🐶 The Esophagus: Your Dog’s Digestive Highway!
Our digestive health journey with Dr. Christine Woodford continues! After your dog takes a bite, the esophagus gets to work—moving food and water from the mouth to the stomach. 🐾

Think of it as a built-in conveyor belt! Gentle, wave-like muscle contractions, called peristalsis, keep each bite moving in the right direction—even when your pup is lying down or eating with their head lowered.

While the esophagus doesn’t digest food or absorb nutrients, it has an important job: delivering each bite to the next stop on the digestive journey!
