We cannot stress the importance of E-collars enough. They may look silly and be a little cumbersome, but there is no better system for preventing patients from licking and bothering at surgery sites.

This is Fluffy. Fluffy is a little annoyed about his E-collar (although his grumpy face is adorable). Fortunately, once we let him know that E-collars can come with churu, he forgot that he ever had anything to be grumpy about.

Meet Willow and Honey Bun! This beautiful bunny came to us through our local bunny rescue, RVA Street Bunny Society. Our work with them provides spays and neuters to adoptable bunnies who are looking for the forever homes. A spay in a bunny is very similar to other animals - patients recieve an intravenous catheter, are intubated to maintain airways, and vital monitoring throughout the procedure. The big difference for bunnies is that we want them eating both before and after the procedure due to the nature of the GI tract.

They are a sweet pair and made it through surgery with flying colors!
