Since we're a primary care clinic, our patients sometimes have to seek medical attention at emergency hospitals like Partner and VVC when we are closed.

Emergency veterinary hospitals are responsible for taking care of patients in a timely manner but certain conditions take precedent. This guide provides information on how their triage process works.

Waiting in the ER is stressful but understanding how pets are prioritized can be helpful!

Raise your hand if you brush your pet's teeth daily. 👀 How about weekly? Monthly? ...Ever? 🫣
*Technically* we should all be doing it for our dogs and cats daily but realistically, we know that is a rare feat for most pet owners! And even with regular brushing tartar can build up below the gumline.
When your pet comes to us for a dental procedure we are able to deep clean and scale each tooth. We also take full mouth radiographs to determine which teeth, if any, may need to be extracted.

Here are some before and after photos of a dental cleaning on a 9 year old terrier mix. Luckily he didn't need any extractions and got to leave with all his pearly whites intact!

Have you ever seen a boxer look more concerned? Ruby is a very sweet girl with the most expressive face! She was waiting patiently for a treat and was probably wondering why we didn't give it to her right away. Obviously it was because we were snapping this adorable photo!

We frequently hear people say, "But my cat is indoors only. Why do I need to get flea and tick prevention?"
While your cat may be indoors all the time, you are not. Fleas and ticks can still hitch a ride into your home on your shoes or clothing!

The two options we recommend and carry in the clinic are both topical prescriptions: Bravecto and Revolution Plus. Bravecto lasts for 3 months and protects cats against fleas and ticks. Revolution Plus is applied monthly and protects cats against fleas, ticks, heartworms, ear mites, roundworms, and hookworms.

The Fourth of July is coming up and that means lots of loud sounds and fireworks! If you have a pet that gets anxious from certain noises, make sure you give us a call to see what your options are for managing the stress of that evening.

Please don't wait until the last minute! Remember that if your pet hasn't been seen by one of our doctors within the last year we would need to get them in for an exam before prescribing anything.

Wow! What a difference a year can make! Some of you might remember this sweet lady, Winky, who we posted back in the Fall. This is her signature "high five" pose.
Since her annual exam last year, Winky has been eating Royal Canin Satiety food which is formulated to help keep your pet feeling full for longer periods of time. Winky was 23 pounds before starting the new food and now she's down to 12.9 pounds!!!
Now that she's done with her weight loss she just has to maintain her new physique. AND the doctor said she can have treats regularly again.
