🐾 Ease the Itch: When Scratching Means Something More 🐾

Occasional scratching is normal, but ongoing itchiness is often a sign that your pet is uncomfortable and may need medical attention.

Keep an eye out for signs such as:
✔️ Excessive licking or chewing
✔️ Rubbing on furniture or carpet
✔️ Frequent ear shaking or ear infections
✔️ Redness, rashes, or scabs
✔️ Hair loss
✔️ Persistent scratching

Many itchy pets are dealing with underlying issues such as allergies, skin infections, parasites, or ear disease. The good news? Relief is possible with the right diagnosis and treatment plan.

If your pet is showing any of these signs, don’t wait for them to “scratch it out.” Early intervention can help prevent discomfort and secondary skin infections.

📞 Concerned about your pet’s itching? Contact Lucks Lane Veterinary Clinic to schedule an exam and help your pet get back to feeling their best.

Suss Sawyer stopped by to see Dr. Robbins for a toe evaluation! 🐾

With Candice assisting, the team was able to obtain X-rays of his foot to help guide the next steps in his care. Between diagnostics and plenty of attention from the staff, Suss Sawyer made sure to soak up all the snuggles during his visit. We love helping our feathered friends feel comfortable while they receive the care they need. ❤️

🐔 What Is Bumblefoot?

Did you know that chickens can develop painful foot infections just like dogs and cats?

Bumblefoot (pododermatitis) is a common condition in backyard poultry that occurs when bacteria enter the foot through a small wound, pressure sore, or irritation. It often appears as a swollen footpad with a dark scab and can cause limping, discomfort, and decreased activity.

Common causes include:
• Rough or inappropriate perches
• Hard landings from high roosts
• Wet or dirty bedding
• Obesity and excess pressure on the feet

The good news? Early treatment can make a big difference. If you notice limping, swelling, or a scab on your chicken’s foot, it’s best to have them evaluated before the infection progresses.

Our team is happy to see backyard poultry and help keep your flock healthy from beak to toe! 🐓💙

Alfie came in for his first adult wellness exam at Lucks Lane Veterinary Clinic today! 🐱💙

He started off a little nervous with a fully fluffed-up tail, but after a few reassuring chin scratches and some gentle encouragement, he settled in and did great for his exam. We know vet visits can be stressful, and we’re proud of Alfie for being so brave!

Way to go, Alfie! 🐾✨

This morning’s puppy patient was feeling extra rambunctious while waiting for his appointment, so naturally he received the royal treatment 👑🐾

He spent some time helping Georgia, our office manager, check clients in, greet everyone at the front desk, and sneak in plenty of snuggles along the way. We’re pretty sure he believes he officially works at Lucks Lane now
