It is with a heavy heart that we share that we said goodbye to Cash today. After facing some medical challenges, the Reining Strength staff consulted with his veterinarians and determined it was time. His registered name was Cash Only, and after a successful show career, he joined the Reining Strength team in 2018—spending 8 successful years with us. Visitors were always in awe of his size, at 17 hands he had quite a presence.
Always a ham, he was often seen with his tongue out, and he loved to rough house and play with his friends in the pasture. He liked to give people a run for their money by making grumpy faces, but when they would step back, he would perk his ears up as to say “What? Don’t you want to pet me?” Like any grey horse, he loved to get dirty, but boy was he handsome when he was all cleaned up.
He was the consummate professional at horse shows, winning many buckles and ribbons alongside his riders. He gave many riders of all ages their first independent ride – what a rush to partner with an animal so big but so careful with his riders. We know the Reining Strength community feels his loss deeply. We hope you will share your favorite memories or photos of Cash here so we can smile and reflect on the good times we had with him.
I am a firm believer all horses go to heaven—many of them with manes and tails cut short like Cash’s so those who loved him have something to remember them by.
Godspeed Cash – I am so thankful Reining Strength has a community of clients, families, volunteers, and staff who love our special equines so well.
