Meet Jasper!
Jasper was found in a puddle during a rainstorm last week by a resident in Clarksville. After being posted on community group pages, he got brought to the shelter where he spent the next week on stray hold.
Jasper came to B&B weighting only 3 pounds and with severe hair loss, anemia, a belly full of worms and scabs alll over from tick bites. We took him to the vet right away to check out his skin and his skin scrape showed demodectic mange (which is treatable and preventable…) One dose of Nexgard Plus later to treat the mites, his skin has already taken a turn for the better!
Jasper is only around 8-10 weeks old. His fosters affectionally called him “Speed Bump” because you could feel every rib and scab, which made petting him like going over a bunch of speed bumps. He got started on medicated baths, iron for anemia from worms, omega fatty acids for skin and hair loss and lost importantly, FOOD!
His skin infections have gone away and is no longer oozing from his sores. His hair has stoped falling out and will start to regrow soon! His worm belly has deflated and he has already increased his body weight by over 25%!!
This sweet boy loves people, dogs and cats so far! He loves to run in the grass and to watch his foster parents make dinner. Jasper still has some healing to do, but he is ready for his glow up!
Thank you Mecklenburg County, Virginia - Animal Control for contacting us for this sweet bean and for taking him in during the storm!
