Help us overflow our lobby with food! We'd love to have to take donations down more than once a week because we have too much.

There is a common misconception that we do not have ticks in the Reno/Sparks area. Unfortunately, that is untrue, and we do have them here. While we are lucky and do not have as many as other parts of the country, it is something we need to be aware of as we have seen a dramatic increase in recent years.

Protecting your pet with a veterinary approved, effective and safe flea/tick preventative will help keep them happy and healthy.

Give us a call or send a text if you would like to get these for your pet or if you have any questions.

Have you seen these pieces of grass around your yard or on your walks? These are foxtails and are common in our area. They can also look like a longer, bushier piece of grass as well.

If you see these in your yard, get rid of them right away. If you see them on your walks or hikes, try to keep your dog away from them, if possible.

They can get into ears and paws quickly and can then migrate. In an attempt to get it out, an infection can develop. If a dog chews on them, they can get stuck in the throat or gingiva. They are also commonly found in the nose.

We have already seen numerous dogs come in with foxtails and they are drying out more now. When that happens, they tend to grab on more readily.

Give us a call or text today or tomorrow if your dog is scared of fireworks and needs some anxiety medication to help them out.
Also:
-Make sure they are wearing their collars with your phone number on it, if they are going to be going outside.
-If possible, keep them indoors with the TV on and/or the radio playing.
-If you are heading out camping, please make sure towards the evening when the fireworks are going to start going off that they are secure. Dogs who are scared will try to run away from them to protect themselves and it may be difficult to catch them. There are numerous dogs each year that get lost during 4th of July due to fireworks. Please plan ahead.

We wanted to take a minute to send out a huge thank you to Miss Lake Tahoe, Chloe Menzies for putting together these awesome bags for the homeless community.

The time, effort and thought showed in the numerous bags she made. Thank you, Chloe for being an incredibly caring person and donating these items to our community.
