Baltimore Humane Society Memorial Park

Baltimore Humane Society Memorial Park Pet Bereavement Support Group monthly: RSVP to [email protected]. The loss of a pet can be a devastating blow.

Our pets are often loved as a member of our family, and we believe their passing should be treated with the same respect. Nicodemus Memorial Park at Baltimore Humane Society has created this page as a place of education, solace, and sharing. We hope you'll find it helpful during your time of grief.

We're excited to spotlight Cadence, a student at UMBC, who is conducting a research project on Baltimore Humane Society's Pet Cemetery. 🐾

Through her work, she's helping explore and preserve the rich history of this special place, which has provided a final resting place for beloved pets and comfort to families for generations. We are grateful for her dedication and interest in sharing these important stories with our community. ❤️

Today, we’re sharing the stories of two beloved animals resting in our cemetery who truly redefined devotion:

Cora (1927–1937) A guide dog who saved her blind owner’s life twice by knowing exactly when to practice "intelligent disobedience”.

Little Mommy (d. 1959) An Irish-born donkey who defied the average lifespan back then by making it to the grand age of 45, leaving behind decades of gentle memories.

History isn't just written by people. ♥️
