Say hello to the newest residents at Bear Country USA — the coatis! 🦝 Curious, clever, and full of energy, these little explorers just moved into their specially designed habitat… and they’ve been busy checking out every corner.
A huge thank you to Hidie for the awesome rope ladder — the coatis are already loving it! 🙌 And an even bigger shout-out to our incredible staff for all their hard work bringing this habitat to life. Your dedication shows in every branch, rock, and rope.

🐾 Unlikely Hunting Buddies? You Bet.
In the grasslands, a coyote and a badger might look like rivals—but watch closely, and you’ll witness one of nature’s most surprising alliances.

When hunting prairie dogs, these two predators team up. The coyote scans and chases above ground. The badger digs from below. Prairie dogs fleeing one often bolt straight into the other’s path.

They don’t share the meal—but they do boost each other’s odds. It’s a silent partnership built on instinct, not trust… and it works.

This sleepy bear is just waking up — and so are we! Bear Country USA is now open, and we can't wait to welcome you back for another wild season in the Black Hills.

Drive through the park to see over 20 species of wildlife in spacious, natural habitats, then stretch your legs on the Wildlife Walkway for a closer look at some of our smaller residents.

🚨 BIG NEWS from Bear Country USA! 🚨

We’re making waves with our wildest exhibit yet! 🌊🦈

Introducing… Tim the Great White Shark! 🦈✨

Thanks to an incredible partnership with the San Diego Great White Rescue, we’ve given this 15-foot, 2,500-pound apex predator a brand-new home—right here in South Dakota! 🏞️ Our team has been hard at work transforming one of our water features into a state-of-the-art saltwater habitat, designed just for Tim.

Tim was removed from the wild after he became a nuisance shark, constantly getting into people’s trash cans along the California coast. 🗑️😬 Experts say he showed an unusual preference for scavenging leftovers instead of hunting, and after one too many surprise appearances at beachfront BBQs, it was clear he needed a new home.

Come visit Tim this season and watch as he gracefully cruises the Black Hills—err, his new high-tech tank! Special thanks to Mike and Cooper from San Diego Great White Rescue for helping us rehome Tim!
