I came into the shelter as a stray on 5/2/2025.
Sorry, this pet is for new hope partners only. #225982: Sylvester is on the at-risk list due to behavior. He is not thriving in the care center and is deteriorating in the Adoptions room. He is now displaying signs of overstimulation. Due to his stress levels, it is in his best interest to move out of the kennel environment and into a stable home as quickly as possible. Our vaccine prices are able to be purchased individually, at the same price or lower. Consequently, for the same expense you can obtain a full exam at the Vet Mobile in addition to the routine vaccinations, and you can even pick and choose which vaccinations to do according to your budget.
Vaccinations range between $20 - $35, with the two basic core vaccines costing $25 each.

MEDIA STATEMENT ON TODAY'S HORSE CARRIAGE COLLAPSE 🚨💔

At around 3 PM, Lady—a 15-year-old carriage horse—collapsed and died in Midtown. She was in the City for less than two months.

Allie Taylor, President of Voters For Animal Rights, said in a statement:

“We are heartbroken and outraged by yet another horrific carriage horse collapse in Midtown, Manhattan. Witnesses reported the horse collapsed, began shaking, and was then dragged into a trailer, presumably dead. No animal should suffer like this, especially not on our city streets in the middle of traffic and chaos.

How many more horses must collapse or die before the City Council takes action? This cruelty is not tradition—it’s abuse. The time for excuses is over. We urge the Council to bring Ryder’s Law to a vote and finally put an end to the abusive horse carriage industry once and for all.

Animals deserve better. New Yorkers demand better -- in fact, 71% of NYC voters support banning horse carriages. The time for change is now."
