15 Chickens, 2 Medically Urgent Dogs, & 1 Skinny Pony
On August 13th we got an urgent message from ACCT Philly, 45 chickens removed from a cockfighting operation. These poor birds were living in horrendous conditions in the basement of a Philadelphia home. Unfortunately, ACCT Philly had to euthanize many that were injured or aggressive. We received 15 total chickens, 3 roosters and 12 hens.
Since we were heading down to ACCT to transport the chickens, we decided to see if any medically urgent dogs needed assistance. We ended rescuing Aladdin (FKA ACCT Lard Lad) and Luna Cat. Aladdin was timestamped due to urgent medical needs and Luna Kat was fast tracked for rescue due to a possible foreign body in her stomach.
Both Aladdin and Luna Kat are now under medical observation. Luna is at Quakertown Vet Hospital awaiting a cardiologist review of her heart murmur before an exploratory surgery to determine what foreign material is in her stomach. Aladdin is at LCR, he will have bloodwork and additional testing to determine what this sweet senior Shih Tzu has going on.
Aladdin and Luna Kat were able to be saved without hesitation thanks to a grant from the Foxwynd Foundation Donor Advised Funds and matches on Giving Tuesday 2024 from donors like you!
Additionally, we took in an emaciated pony that was rescued by a good Samaritan. This pony was being leased by a summer camp by an unscrupulous owner that only seeks profit from their animals. Jasper weighed in at just 623 pounds yesterday, when he should be much closer to 800! Today, our equine dentist will be checking his teeth, which will allow us to determine the best refeeding plan for him.
While we do not need donations to provide Aladdin and Luna Kat their urgent medical care, we do need funds to help the other animals in our care. Please consider donating today!
