If anyone is needing a stall for Black Canyon Donkey Derby last call is Monday by 10:00 am

Also, a reminder to everyone, including stall rental people, please remember to bring your own water buckets 🪣

Somehow I was 🤪 crazy enough to say YES two years in a row to taking over and becoming the new race director, but I must say, this sure is one FUN event! 🤩

Mark your calendars and come check it out! We’ll have vendors, food trucks, kids’ activities, and more for spectators to enjoy!

Last year we had close to 100 donkeys there! Come join the fun!

We are going to see neglect in equine continue to skyrocket, and we the people, need to somehow find a way to take a stand. The cost of care for these animals has increased so drastically that people can no longer afford to care for them anymore, me included. Equine have always been considered “livestock” (they were a way of life & therefore vet bills were rung up in a different category), from my understanding, I need to do more research on what I keep hearing, up until recently they’ve become considered a “luxury pet” and that has drastically changed the charges you see at the veterinary office. A visit and treatment that used to cost around $300 is now almost $900! I was SHOCKED when I saw my bill for a treatment I’ve done before. People who have owned equine forever are quickly realizing we cannot afford to treat and care for these animals anymore. Animals who need treatment will no longer receive it because the average person can’t afford to do it. Regular vet visits for routine care will happen less and less. Neglect will continue to increase. Not to mention the cost of hay has tripled in the last 5-7 years.
We wonder why we are seeing neglect more and more?
