🐾 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐮𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐚 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐟'𝐬 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲: 𝐊𝟗 𝐍𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐞! 🐾

We would like to officially introduce everyone to our newest four-legged deputy, K9 Nellie Mae!

Nellie Mae is a Texas Blue Lacy, the official State Dog of Texas, and she reported for duty on Monday, July 20. On her very first day, she took a tour of the courthouse and Sheriff's Office, where she quickly made plenty of new friends. (We're pretty sure she already knows where all the treats are kept.)

Nellie has officially begun her Field Training Program alongside Chief Miles, and we have no doubt she'll soon become a valuable asset to our team. She will assist with tracking suspects, as well as search and rescue missions involving missing children, elderly individuals, and others in need of help.

Texas Blue Lacys are known for their intelligence, endurance, and outstanding scent-tracking abilities, making them exceptional working K9s. In other words, Nellie Mae has all the right qualifications for the job, plus a little extra personality.

A special thank you goes to Jason Smith and T.R. Pate of Load’Em Up Lacy’s & West Alabama Whitetail Recovery for their generous donation of Nellie Mae to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office.

Please join us in welcoming K9 Nellie Mae to the team! We have a feeling she's going to leave quite a paw print on Tuscaloosa County. 🐾💙
