This pup originally pointed from about 20 feet away, worked his way in to flush the bird up and chased it down and caught it. What’s not in the video once we fired a shot that was the second time we fired over this dog and he did great. He will no longer be allowed to catch birds. We did let him carry this bird around for a little while, even after we got a hold of his lead and he took total ownership of it mission accomplished. Solomon’s Creek Kennel

RIP Buddy. 2/1/2016-6/16/2025 Sadie Ridge High Cotton
Buddy lost his battle today with lymphoma. I needed to make the decision to end his suffering. 30 years with dogs and this is never an easy decision.
I acquired Buddy from Grayson Francis, at the time I needed a dog for my guide string. He turned out to be much more than that. Buddy won the AFTCA region three championship of 2021. His Field Trial career was short as at the time I needed a dog on the guide string, but Buddy did it all before I retired him from trialing,He worked a preserve hunt and retrieved birds two days before the region three championship and went out to score 4 perfect finds, two of which were covey’s.
He was judged by Dave Pomfret and Grace Anne Lawson in front of a large gallery with the temperature in the 20’s and fierce winds. This was the 5th brace. I remember the exhilarating feeling of witnessing his performance. My good friend Bobby Phillips rode his horse up to me and exclaimed,”Dennis, that is going to be hard to beat!”
