Azalea and appointment update-
Ever since July 5, Azalea and I have both basically been fighting for our lives. She got gangrenous mastitis, which basically in layman’s terms she was over producing milk and got a clogged duct that the puppies weren’t able to unclog. Because of this she got a bacterial infection and she was turning septic. We have been in and out of the emergency vet multiple times for her infection, and to get help with her LARGE open wound. I came home from work one day and found a rather alarming chunk (yes that big) of flesh on the floor in my house, and a hole inside of Azalea at least 3 inches long as well as wide. After rushing her again to the vet he said it looked great and was the infected tissue falling out 😳
She also can no longer feed her puppies so between her round the clock care, bandage changes, and making sure she takes her meds I am also hand rearing all 9 puppies. I make them all their meals, and since they’re now on puppy food instead of mom’s milk they are pooping A LOT so I spend hours a day cleaning after them.
You guys know what Azalea means to me and how for the last 6 years she has been the light in my darkness. She is the joy that keeps me going, and the ray of sunshine I need when I feel hopeless. She was there for me through a divorce, my first baby, chemo, radiation, moving across the country, changing careers, and every milestone in between. If not for Doctor Shaw at Choice Vet in Punta Gorda I am confident that I wouldn’t have her by my side today.

That brings me to appointments, I am going to be limited until she is healed in about 3-4 weeks which is also the time puppies will be leaving. I can accommodate one stop a day with 2 dogs maximum until she is healed. Remember to please text me for appointments and thank you so much for understanding when I needed to cancel last minute because everything happened so quickly and changed from bad to emergency overnight.

Availability update-
Hi guys! I just wanted to update one of my potential puppy owners has had a life change and respectfully put the needs of her puppy first and unfortunately will not be able to bring home one of these babies. While I’m sad that her plans didn’t pan out as we both hoped, I truly appreciate and respect the decision she made before bringing a puppy home that may not have worked out in the end.
This means that I have 2 openings for one cream female, and one cream male.

Appointments resume this Monday 6/22 and will be limited until the puppies go to their new homes! I’m so grateful to say that 7 of these sweet babes already have homes, I only have 2 still available and maybe one could be yours? 🧐🐩

The litter is finally live on my good dog page. If you have sent a signed contract and deposit then you should have received a notification that you are confirmed a puppy within the litter.
Remember that placement is made after temperament tests are complete and structural evals. If there is one that catches your attention I will absolutely write that down and keep in mind that’s the one you are watching. I am in conversations with several other people I am just waiting for signed contracts and deposits. Once received there will be one boy and one girl available.

Does anyone know what I’m making Azalea now?

I’ll wait….

It’s called mother’s pudding. It’s a calorie packed pudding that helps promote milk production and with 9 babies, she has A LOT of milk to make.

The babies had a great first night waking up every 2 hours to feed. Before we went to bed at 11:30 last night I could tell Azalea was just exhausted so while the puppies got a big feed in before she slept I made sure she got plenty of water and some food, I helped her clean all the babies butts and stimulate their bathroom reflexes. I also took a warm washcloth and cleaned the blood from her face and she just started to relax big time. I then went to clean up her tail and rear and she spread her legs all the way and closed her eyes. She trusted me to finish getting everyone ready for bed which included her. This morning after she fed everyone and I cleaned the box out she was feeling pretty good so I put her in the tub and washed her rear and tail with antibacterial soap and dried her off and she was so happy.

This morning we’re getting ready to take the puppies for their first vet visit to get their dew claws removed and tails docked. It’s hard but a necessary part of raising poodles, and it’s important to me that the vet gets eyes on them within the first 24 hours
