For Christmas, my daughter fell in love with a spinner ring she saw, and of course, being her mom, I bought it for her. Then, of course being me, I had to try and make one.

A spinner ring, for those who don't know, starts with a band, which flares out at top and bottom to hold smaller bands within. The smaller bands are free to spin as you're wearing the ring. I've also heard it called a fidget ring. It was a fun project for me.

First, I took a 3/4" strip of 20 gauge sterling and stamped a design on it. Then I soldered the ends together to form the ring, hammered it until it was round, and, using a metal dapping tool, tapped one end until it flared out enough to stop the smaller bands from slipping off. I then made three skinny slightly larger-sized bands, textured them, and soldered a bezel on each. Once the little bands were popped onto the main band, I dapped the other end to flare it. I oxidized the entire ring, threw it into the tumbler to polish and smooth, and then set two little round turquoise cabs (from the Sleeping Beauty mine here in AZ) and a slightly larger orange spiny oyster cab (Sea of Cortez) into the bezels. Voila! One more thing I've crossed off my jewelry bucket list.
