🎃🚪 Trick-or-treaters at the door can be exciting for us, but stressful for our pets. With the doorbell ringing and people coming and going, it’s also an easy time for a pet to slip out unnoticed.

Create a safe space away from the front door with a favorite toy, puzzle feeder, or calming background noise. Before opening the door, take a quick moment to make sure your pet is safely out of the way.

And just in case they do get out, make sure their ID tags and microchip information are up to date.

A few simple precautions can help keep your pets safe while the Halloween fun continues! 👻🧡

Happy National Cat Day! 🐾😴

Ever wonder why your cat seems to nap constantly? It's not laziness — it's biology.

Cats spend around 70% of their lives asleep, roughly 12–16 hours a day, making them one of the most sleep-driven mammals on the planet.

As natural predators, cats' bodies are wired to conserve energy between bursts of hunting activity, even though our domestic cats trade mice for kibble.

Their sleep cycles are also different from ours: a large portion is light, easily interrupted sleep, keeping them alert and ready to pounce (or investigate the sound of a snack bag) at a moment's notice.

So today, let's celebrate our feline friends for exactly who they are: professional nappers, expert stretchers, and masters of doing absolutely nothing with maximum style. 🐱💤

We ended our Technician Appreciation week with our annual fall team outing event at Out of Sight Alpacas 🦙🥰 (which was postponed due to the rain a few weeks ago, so we are missing some team members in the group photo due to other plans 😭🫶🏻). We had so much fun feeding the alpacas and petting all the animals. We finished up the day enjoying the weather at Argo’s Farm’s Fall Festival 🍂 🎃

We have an amazing and dedicated team here at PPVH. Technicians take X-rays, pull bloodwork, fill medications, restrain pets during exams, the list goes on! And we appreciate all that they do! 💜

Dental problems aren’t always easy to spot, and dogs and cats may show discomfort in different ways. 🦷🐾 Bad breath, tartar buildup, pawing at the mouth, drooling, dropping food, or changes in eating habits can all be signs it’s time for a dental check. Regular veterinary exams can help catch oral health concerns early and keep your pet comfortable.

Pumpkin carving is a fun fall tradition, but curious pets need a little extra care! 🎃🐶🐱 Keep carving tools and pumpkin seeds out of reach, supervise pets around lit candles, and remember that plain pumpkin flesh is safe in moderation. Avoid letting pets chew on the stem or any moldy pumpkin. Keep the season festive with a little extra pet safety! 🧡
