My niece came in clutch picking up Rusty. His veterans was taken to the hospital urgently, and Rusty got left behind. Luckily, my favorite people at James Haley caught it and contacted us. We were able to get access to his apartment and talk Rusty into coming out from under the bed. Thanks Nevaeh for being the backup I needed.

Once again, Our friends at Plant City Police Department came through in a big way. Through Officer Wise’s connections, he was able to have a mini split unit donated. Now we can use the donated money to have the unit installed. Thank you for leaping in to help and always supporting our mission.

We’d like to replace this A/C unit and get this building properly climate controlled by a mini-split, as we’ve done with our other rooms. With the influx of dogs, we need a dedicated space for our charity residents and this poor thing isnt going to keep up with the pet dander. I want to continue to use general donations we’ve received for vet care, dog food, enrichment items, and grooming, and due to the size of this purchase, those funds wouldnt be available We’ve agreed to begin a fundraiser specifically for this project, so we can have a dedicated space for the promise.

Yesterday, we were asked to board a dog for a veteran at Bay Pines. I’m fortunate this weekend my business filled the kennel. Unfortunately it meant I didn’t have space for a charity dog. I told Tracy about the request, and she said “we’ll make space”. That’s where Michelle and John come in. Two hour drive to the hospital, two hour drive home after dropping off Jewel. That’s incredible. Still looking for people willing to make those trips. It was close to not happening, but you know… a promise is a promise.

Elsa was reunited with her veteran and headed home to help him heal. She had some confidence issue when she arrived, but left feeling like she’d been home the whole time. As always, $350 boarding, cost the veteran 0$. This has been much easier as people rally our cause and help cover these expenses. The staff at our kennel are funded by our small business and donations are put toward kennel upkeep, quality of life improvements for the charity dogs, and food when we run out. We appreciate every dollar or minute given to us. It makes these reunions possible, which helps keep us feeling useful 😇

We brought in a new volunteer last night! Brenda answered the call and picked up Soldier from Bay Pines Hospital. Pieces are falling in place and we’re getting more efficient. Soldier’s in the very best hands

I’ve been waiting to post this one for a long time. Bobby was brought in almost a year ago. Sometimes, (very rarely) the veterans don’t find their way back to us for various reasons. We wait as long as we can, and as hard as we try, we can’t provide the home environment the dog truly need. Bobby was taken home by a volunteer and fellow veteran today. Really excited for both of them, as they both were looking for someone to take care of.

Once again, blessed by the community. The Plant City Police Department collects donations from their officers year round, and distributes them among the community. We were blessed to be chosen as a recipient of their generosity. We’ll be using the Amazon gift cards to get some new enrichment items for the play yard. Thank you from the bottom of our paws.

The veterans are free to come visit, if their treatment allows. It’s good therapy for all parties, us included. Six was like Velcro the entire time. Counting down the days until he’s coming to take her home, healthy and ready to move forward.

Ben did it again! Another call at 1am while we’re out of town, for a veteran at Bay Pines in Clearwater. Ben was on the road by 1:30, and didn’t get to the kennel until 4:30am with Soldier. Happy to have this gorgeous boy hanging with us for a little bit. Volunteers make it happen.

This was another great step for us. When an emergency happens, police and paramedics often respond together. On this occasion, the person needing help was a veteran, and luckily for him, Officer Wise of the Plant City Police Department was on scene. The veteran was unwilling to leave his dog, Buddy Girl. Because his mother is Judy Wise, one of the biggest pioneers of our cause, he told the veteran about our program and convinced them to let us care for Buddy Girl for him. So grateful for our community relationships. Had Officer Wise not been there, Buddy Girl could have gone to the animal shelter, if no one knew we existed. officer Wise is on a mission to make sure everyone at his department knows to give us a call when a veteran needs assistance boarding their dog. He even assisted by bringing Buddy Girl to us, so we didn’t have to travel. Absolutely a huge assistance.
