Thank you Julee Andersen Kunc for the generous donation of cat food! They are BOGO at Publix this week if anyone needs for their own kitties or would like to donate! We use wet food for our older kitties or those that need extra calories. We will also periodically use wet food to help keep kitties hydrated or sneak in their wormer or other medicine. 🤫😉🤣

With rain all day every day, I realized that some drainage improvements were needed in the guinea pig enclosure . Today I spent a good portion of the day adding better drainage and new industrial rubber mats to keep the guinea pigs clean, dry and happy! The mats are very expensive, however I found them new on Facebook marketplace😉
I’ve already received hate from someone about letting our guinea pigs go outside at all and I’m not interested in hearing anymore. I promise you the proof is in 80+ guinea pigs being adopted out and not a single one reported a health problem. They are happy babies. Their door is always open to come inside into the AC or heat whatever the case might be. I guess some people will just need to trust me that I’m on top of things 🤷🏻‍♀️ But that’s a story for another time. 🤣
Purpose of my post… First I just wanted to show off what I did because while all of the guinea pigs were inside and enjoying the 77° air conditioner I was outside picking up 50 pound bags of rock and busting my tail in 90 degrees. Just a few “Hey that looks great!” would help my feelings. Lol also the guinea pigs are worth it.
Also, several of their plastic houses that they use outside have gotten brittle because they’ve been outside for over a year. I was hoping that maybe some people would have extras or could keep an eye out at yard sales and flea markets for us. We need the large ones big enough for guinea pigs and rabbits, not hamsters. They’re kind of pricey to buy new on Amazon, but I will do what I have to do. As always, thanks for the support. 🐾

Local rescue friends… Check your fridges! Where are low on veggies for the little animals. If you have some old, wilted or dried out, but not yet slimy veggies that you would like to donate -the critters would be happy to have them.!! Local favorites are Romain lettuce, carrots, and cucumbers!
** edited to add before somebody else comes at me… I mean edible produce. Dried out a little bit, not dried out like shriveled up no nutrition. It’s sad that I even have to clarify this! Think day old bread here - still edible but maybe not preferred by humans, but the animals don’t mind 😊**

A pair of 4T pink Barbie leggings for the win! Thank you Tara Sumner!! They fit splendidly and Fiona is feeling beautiful in her new outfit!! 🤣
(here’s hoping she keeps them on overnight and doesn’t bother her boo-boo) 🤞🏻

OK, local friends. This will be an odd request. Fiona’s leg is healing but every time I try to change her bandage or when we try to leave it open to get some air, she starts gnawing at it. Cones are not really an option for goats because it interferes with their ability to eat and graze on Hay which she needs to do to stay healthy. She’s already lost a little bit of weight just since her injury.
The vet wrap that we use does not allow air through and after discussing with the vet this morning, we have decided that we are going to try to put leggings on the old girl. So my odd request for today… Does anyone have any children’s sized leggings that they would be willing to donate to try to see if that will work for Miss Fiona.? Based on raising my own children, I’m thinking she would need like 4T/5T but if I end up going to the thrift store, I would probably buy some all the way from two toddler up to size 6 just to see which one fit the best. Was reaching out first to see if anybody just happened to have some old play clothes that they didn’t need. Thanks again for your concern and always humoring us with our sometimes odd request.
As you can see in the picture -Miss Fiona is still smiling through it all !!!
