🚨 SCAM ALERT: Protect Yourself If You’ve Lost a Pet 🚨
We’ve been alerted to a troubling scam targeting pet owners who are desperately searching for their lost animals. 💔
In this scam, someone spoofs our phone number and claims to be from Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh. They may say we’ve found your pet, demand immediate payment, and even threaten euthanasia if you don’t act fast.
This is NOT us. We would never demand payment over the phone or threaten harm to any animal.
If your pet goes missing:
🐾 Call our Lost Pets Line directly at 412-345-7300 ext. 216 (don’t rely on caller ID alone).
🐾 Be cautious of anyone pressuring you to pay immediately.
🐾 Know that our shelter hours and policies are public — scammers count on you being too overwhelmed to check.
🐾 If something feels off, trust your instincts and reach out to confirm.
