I’m a volunteer photographer for adoptable dogs in Phx, Az Welcome to Az Shelter Pets!

It's a simple name, but it has meaning. All the dogs you see on this page are looking for furever homes in Phoenix, Arizona. Yes, these are dogs in a shelter, but they are also so much more than that. One of these dogs could quite possibly be your new best friend: Your "get fit" motivator. Your "dinner and a movie" cuddle buddy. Your "my day was so bad until I came home to my dog" savior. In short

, one of these dogs could be your new Shelter PET! Most of the dogs on this page are available for adoption through the Maricopa County Animal Care & Control shelter system. The dog's current location will be noted in their bio. Please keep in mind that these are dogs I've met while taking photos. I can provide a general idea of the dog's temperament and personality based on my observation of the dog, but beyond that- the rest is up to you! :-) If you see a face you are drawn to and you're in the market to adopt, please go visit the dog and learn more about them

Chi Town's got FRUGHUAHUAS!! 😆 When they took in Romy and Michele as strays a few months ago, we guessed they were French Bulldog mixes... then we started thinking Boston Terrier mixes. We decided to DNA test them for fun and now see that our original Frenchy thought was correct, along with Pug, Chihuahua, and a little sprinkle of Staffy for Romy. AND we confirmed that Romy and Michele are indeed sisters! We will be DNA testing a puppy from each mama's litter, so stay tuned for those results; it will give us a better idea of who dad is. I LOVE these two! Uno (left) and Utah originally came to a few years ago, brought in with quite a few other dogs, from a hoarding situation. Both dogs have made a lot of progress with their people socialization (but will still bite your ankles when they first meet you, lol). Uno is playful and goofy, and just now allowing me to pick him up/struggle snuggle him (lol). Utah loves socializing with the pack and LOVES belly rubs from those he knows and trusts. Beautiful Husky mix, HOPE, is still adoptable! Hope wants nothing more than a family and home to call her own. She has some separation anxiety and would do best in a home with people who are home more often than not.
Hope also needs a secure house and yard (she can open doors!). Hope LOVES little dogs and tolerates larger dogs. She is very affectionate with people, walks great on leash, and after a little play time, is actually pretty chill. Alyster has started trusting me enough lately, that he will flop over and beg for belly rubs! This is huge for a shy guy like Alyster. 💜 Alyster takes a bit to warm up to new people. He originally came from a hoarding situation and didn't have much practice socializing with people. Alyster has come so far during his time and we know he will do even better in a home setting. It doesn't get much cuter than this- meet Sammy! Sammy is an approximately one-year-old Poodle mix, available for adoption through Chi Town Rescue in Phx. Sammy came to rescue as a stray; he was quite matted and dirty. Nothing a good groom couldn't fix though, and now we can see Sammy's adorable face! Sammy is a young dog and full of fun and energy. He loves to run and play in the yard with the other dogs. Sammy is outgoing with people and loves attention. In fact, he demands it! Sammy will hop up on you for pets and you'll soon be best friends. If you have pets AND treats, you are sure to be best friends forever! If you're looking for a friendly and active little dog, you have got to come meet Sammy. *Sammy has a hernia that needs surgical repair. This does not cause him any pain. He can be adopted now, and taken to his surgery April 24th. Chi Town will pay for the surgery, included with the adoption fee. Email [email protected] for more info/meet and greet appointment. Sammy weighs approximately 15 pounds. His adoption fee includes spay surgery, vaccinations up to date, microchip, and hernia repair.
