8/27/2025
Dog was in back half of kennel during AM cleaning. Dog would come forward slowly with verbal coaxing & treats. Would take treats gently. Opened kennel, would shy head away during leash placement. Used a large loop leash & treats to lure dog into leash placement. Walked slowly to PY. Would explore slowly while having soft tail wags. Would stop & look around when handlers were nearby PY then return to handler slowly, would become startled when walking past reactive dogs. Would allow petting. Offered treats, would take treats very gently. Handler tossed toys, was not interested in toys. Handler sat down on bench & called dog over, dog would slowly place front paws up onto bench then look around while being pet. Does not appear to know "SIT" but would start to sit with treats being lured over & back. Allowed handler to pick up leash & walked slowly back to kennel, would be startled when walking past reactive dogs. Entered into kennel with no issues & allowed slow leash removal by hand. *Interested parties should be made aware of all intake notes from finder. Placing NO SMALL ANIMALS as a REQUIREMENT. Interested parties should be counseled on providing this dog with proper decompression time in a new home. Allowing time to adjust is important for their comfort and well-being. Adopters should be counseled on proper dog-to-dog introductions, which should only occur after the dog has fully decompressed.

8/26/2025
Dog was standing on bed, body neutral, watched handler, unable to coax forward verbally. Ate treats tossed in kennel, came forward and took treats from hand, closed divider. Retreated back to bed when presented with leash, handler was able to reach in and place leash with large loop, dog exited kennel, startled by reactive dogs, kept distance, tail tucked, ears back, no issues on the way to yard. Dog explored yard with tail tucked, drooling, wary of surroundings, approached handler when offered treats, flinched when touched but allowed petting all over. Did not actively seek attention. As another dog was walking past yard dog became still and stared, ears erect, tail still tucked, did not approach fence, once other dog was out of sight dog continued exploring. Followed handler over to gate, able to pick up leash and attach clip leash, moderate pull back to kennel, once again startled by reactive dogs, did not attempt to interact, easy return, able to remove leash by hand.
