Goober. Lapdog. 30 pounds of pure serotonin. Allow us to reintroduce you to Piper! This girl has been cooped up at the shelter for far too long, and while she loved her doggy day out at the park, she has even more fun planned for when you finally take her home (yes you, she's already decided)!

Piper's ideal itinerary? Start with a pre-breakfast snuggle sesh, enjoy an outdoor adventure (or just a walk through the neighborhood), show you every single one of her stuffy toys, then round it out by flopping into your lap for a movie marathon 🍿

Piper would spend all day glued to your hip if she could, but will settle for you spooning her on the couch while she gently rests a squeaky toy on your face. She'd be thrilled to join a home where she'll be the only pet, and won't have to be alone too often to start (adjusting to new situations can be tough on this sensitive girl).

Our girl is deeply ready to be someone’s whole world, so please reach out about fostering or adopting this 2 year old cutie today! Email [email protected] or [email protected], or read more about Piper at phillypaws.org/adopt.

SOS: mama cats in need! If you wish you had more cuteness in your life, PAWS is urgently seeking foster homes for nursing moms and their kittens.

ACCT Philly has many more moms with babies than they can handle, and the longer they stay at the shelter, the more likely they are to become dangerously ill due to their fragile immune systems. This not only makes finding foster homes even harder, it also puts them at increased risk of euthanasia if the shelter becomes too full. PAWS can only help if we open space in our own kitten nursery, and to do that, we need YOU!

By temporarily opening your home to a mom and babies, you’ll be giving them a safe place to grow healthy and strong, *and* opening a desperately needed space at the shelter so we can rescue the next family who's counting on us. PAWS provides all the medical care and support you'll need, and can even give you supplies if that's a barrier!

Even a spare bathroom can save lives, so please sign up today or reach out at [email protected]!

Would you like to foster or adopt a very special pair of kittens? Crash and Scout are a sweet, affectionate, and playful duo ready to bring all of their love and floppiness to your home! They’re looking for a place to land as soon as possible, since their current fosters can only keep them through Friday.

While their wobbly walks may look different, Crash and Scout live happy, fulfilling lives — and they don’t let anything slow them down! These siblings love playtime, snuggling, and offering gentle affection to those they trust. Their favorite activities include batting around toys, cozying up in soft blankets, and being around their favorite humans (hint: they love a good butt scratch)!

Cerebellar hypoplasia doesn’t require any medical care, just some extra accommodations that include mostly carpeted floors, restricted access to stairs, and low-sided litter boxes that are easy to get into. These cuties are shy and nervous in new environments, so the shelter was very scary for them when they were last with us. We’d really love to find them a new foster before they need to come back to us — or better yet, an adopter who is excited for all the wobbly love they have to give!

Want to learn more? Reach out today at [email protected] or [email protected], or read all about them at our adoptions page. You can also follow their adventures at !

Crash (all black male) and Scout (black and white female) are around 9 months old, could potentially live with other cats after a slow intro, and would thrive in a home with adults or gentle kids over 10.

✨ PAWS FOSTER SPOTLIGHT: Meet Linda!✨

Linda started her journey with PAWS in 2023 as a cat volunteer at our Grays Ferry location, which is what inspired her to get involved as a foster last year!

"I could see how stressed the cats were in the shelter,” shares Linda, “Then I learned about PAWS Safety Net program. I couldn’t even contemplate having to surrender my pets if I got into a situation where I couldn’t care for them. The combination of helping cats and helping their owners led me to start fostering."

Linda enjoys how much she learns about cat behavior, which has not only helped her better understand her own cats, but also helps her make better adoption matches for her fosters. A recent pair of bonded cats she fostered was absolutely terrified at the shelter, "but once they decompressed they were the sweetest, most loving cats I've ever known. The family that adopted them was a perfect match for these kitties...I didn’t realize how meaningful it is for people to adopt a pet."

Plus, she really values the connections she’s formed with others - “Sending pictures and little stories to Safety Net parents made bonds with people I don’t even know personally.”

When reflecting on memories, Linda recalls when she fostered a very large and active Safety Net cat, Cassius! He ran the house, and “there was no closet, cabinet, or drawer he did not squeeze into to explore”. He was so big that he broke a door lock by banging on it, and when he would jump on her, he’d literally take her breath away. “In fact, friends came to visit just to experience this cat.”

Linda would advise potential fosters to “be patient with any pets they foster, as they all need time to show their true, loving personalities.” She finds that setting routines and designated spaces can make life easier at home, and also emphasizes that you can absolutely foster if you have other pets at home. "The experiences of fostering are really wonderful, and remember that you’re helping both the pets and people."

Thank you, Linda, for all you do to help these animals find their way to loving homes! We are incredibly grateful to Linda and all of our fosters for devoting so much time, care, and love towards the pets who most need it.

We have an obsession and her name is Soup Dumpling 🥣🥟😭 This sweet, squishy, sentient potato is looking for a soft place to land. She was found as a stray with some ouchy skin, and is also fighting a case of kennel cough, so she’d really appreciate some TLC from the comfort of a cozy foster home!

We’re still learning about Soup Dumpling, but we do know that she’s a silly and kind hearted girl who wants to be best friends with everyone she meets (b***y scritches required). She’s looking for home where she’ll be the only pet due to her current medical status, and will thank you with lots of stubby little tail wags and sweet shorts.

Able to foster this amazing lady and help her have the hot girl summer that she deserves? Please email us at [email protected] to learn more!

Please put your hands together for the incredible foster heroes who stepped up to save lives during our Everyday Heroes Foster Challenge 👏 Thanks to these amaxing animal lovers, 200 pets left the shelter for foster homes during the challenge in July, allowing us to rescue 270 in their place!

We are so grateful to the foster parents of all experience levels who saved lives by opening their homes to cats, kittens, and dogs. Whether this was your first time fostering or your thirtieth, every life saved is a reason to celebrate and we couldn't do it without you!

With the city shelter at capacity, every animal we place in a home means another we can bring into our shelter to receive the individualized care they desperately needed. We've got another nervous friend who'd love to trade his hidey hut for a foster home! Kuzma is a sweet marshmallow who's around 4 years old and is very overwhelmed to find himself at the shelter after losing his home. His family was heartbroken to part with him, and described him as a super chill, laid back couch potato baby who is mild mannered and fairly low maintenance overall. Here at the shelter, Kuzma is wide eyed and hiding in the back of his cage, and needs a lot of extra petting, encouragement, and baby talking to come out and eat. Once he knows you're a friend, he'll reward you with lots of gentle purrs, biscuits, and even some shrimpy squirms to show you his soft tummy. If you'd like to help Kuzma feel safe again (and enjoy a lot of love and affection while you're at it), please email [email protected] for more info!

Hero is a wiggly nugget of perfection, and we *cannot* believe he's still on the market! Cat and dog friendly? Yep. Great with kiddos? You bet. Housebroken and crate trained? Sure is! This little ham wakes up every morning like it’s the best day ever — and if you’re lucky enough to meet him, it will be!

According to his fosters, snuggles are Hero's love language, and he's happiest when he’s right next to his favorite people (or better yet, curled up on top of them)! At 3 years old, he has two speeds: all-out play mode and totally conked out — and he gives his whole heart to both. He's a dog so happy, so joyful, so full of love, you won't know how you ever lived without him!

If you're ready to welcome a completely unserious dog to your life who will *always* remind you to lighten up, drop us a line about Hero today! You can learn more at our adoptions page, email [email protected], or see more of his adventures on Instagram at .

Summer in the city? It's the perfect time to adopt kitty! 😺 We love seeing great matchmaking and family bonds forming in real time thanks to PetSmart Charities and the amazing volunteer team who runs our PAWS Broad & Washington Petsmart. Our BWPS adoption location is made possible by PetSmart Charities and is run entirely by dedicated PAWS volunteers. They are there daily to care for our cats, provide enrichment, show them love, and of course, ensure they find wonderful families!

If you haven't given on Instagram a follow yet, be sure to check them out. Interested in adopting? Apply ahead of time before you visit at phillypawsorg/catapp!

These cuties are lonely, overlooked, and waiting for love! In a quiet corner at PAWS, some of the sweetest cats and kittens you’ll meet are spending their days in medical isolation, just because they have a treatable skin condition: ringworm. Our ringworm residents have gotten almost no foster or adoption interest, and the truth is, they’re getting lonely! We're especially feeling bad for Poblano, Guac, and Salsa, who are missing out on critical kitten socialization milestones while they wait — and our adult residents are craving cuddles just as much.Medical isolation can be a bummer, but if they can find foster homes, it doesn’t have to be! All it takes to change a life is a separate space in your home and a few weeks of TLC. To foster or adopt one or more of our adorable fungal felines, email [email protected] with the subject “ringworm kittens”!Some ringworm fast facts: 🔹 It’s not a worm — it’s a fungal infection of the skin that usually shows up as small patches of hair loss in pets. 🔹 It’s a mild infection, but contagious to people and pets, so a separate room for fosters is the best way to prevent it from spreading during treatment.🔹 It usually takes 4-8 weeks to clear up (and many of these babies are already a few weeks into their treatment)! 🔹 We have twice weekly “dip days” at our Grays Ferry clinics for ringworm fosters/adopters to drop their kitties off for medicated baths — no need to do it at home!
