Street Tails Animal Rescue

Street Tails Animal Rescue Helping the homeless, the unwanted, and the special needs dogs of the Philadelphia area. Lindsay's mission was clear: to save one dog at a time.

Our Story
Street Tails Animal Rescue (STAR) began in 2001 as a humble one-woman effort led by Lindsay Condefer. From her pet store, The Chic Petique, Lindsay poured her heart and soul into rescuing dogs and finding them loving homes. In 2010, with the steadfast support of friends, supporters, and a dedicated board of directors, Lindsay's vision expanded. Street Tails Animal Rescue transitioned to

its own dedicated location, a testament to its commitment to making a difference in the lives of homeless and abandoned dogs in the Philadelphia area. Our Unique Approach
What sets Street Tails Animal Rescue apart is our distinctive approach, powered by just two full-time staff members. While many larger organizations boast extensive teams, our small but mighty team oversees every aspect of our rescue operation. From fundraising and social media outreach to the hands-on care of each and every dog that enters our doors, our dedicated staff ensures that every animal receives the attention, love, and support they need to thrive. Our Mission
At Street Tails Animal Rescue, our mission is unwavering: to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs in need. We are committed to pulling local animals out of shelters and providing them with the care and love they deserve. Each life we save reinforces our belief that every animal, regardless of their background, deserves the chance for a brighter future.

Our mission is made possible by the dedication of our two full-time staff members, our passionate volunteers, and the guidance of our committed board of directors. Together, we work tirelessly to ensure that every dog that comes through our doors receives the care, attention, and support they need to thrive. Our Impact
Since our inception, Street Tails Animal Rescue has made a significant impact in the lives of countless animals and families. With the support of our community, we have been able to exponentially increase the number of animals we rescue and rehome each year. Our success stories are a testament to the power of compassion and the difference that can be made when we come together to help those in need. As we look to the future, we remain committed to our mission of saving lives and making a difference in the lives of animals in our community. We invite you to join us in our efforts and become a part of our mission to ensure that every dog knows they are wanted and loved. www.streettails.org

Wilson came from the backseat of a car, one of seven dogs crammed together in the heat of summer. And still, he held on.

Wilson is the kind of dog who doesn’t beg to be noticed. He waits to be understood.

He’s the namesake of someone who built something lasting. Where what’s worn is restored, and what’s been discarded is honored again. That’s the heart of this work. And that’s the heart of Wilson.

We close out this month’s wilsonsestatejewelry collection with the dog who reminds us that resilience is rare. And worth everything.

She showed up the way a lot of the best things do — quietly.

Kirby is the namesake of someone who built a whole business around finding what was overlooked, restoring what others gave up on, and honoring what still had value. A part of our wilsonsestatejewelry collection.

That’s exactly what we do in rescue. And exactly who Kirby is.

She’s not loud. Not flashy. But when you sit with her, you know — She matters.

Part of our Collection. Brooch was found living in a car, squeezed in with six other dogs.

Like the vintage brooch she’s named for, she’s small but holds everything together quietly. A little bent, a little worn, but still beautiful and strong. She doesn’t need to shine loud to get noticed, sometimes the most important pieces are the ones you barely see.

Part of our Collection. Garnet came into local animal control as a stray. Just a small dog with big eyes and a quiet strength.

Like the deep red gemstone she’s named for, she’s subtle but unmistakable. Real treasures aren’t always polished. Sometimes they’re the ones you find when you look a little harder.

Objects in mirror are living their best damn life. 🚗🐶

If you’ve been here a while, you know Walter’s story. He came to us scared, underweight, shut down. Eight months of slow work — vet visits, behavior sessions, decompression, ankle issues, fear-based reactivity. But he held on, and so did we.

Then his family drove 12 hours from Georgia just to meet him. They brought Bri their resident pup. They took it slow. They listened. And it felt right.

So we packed up the car. His people, his snacks, his comforts. Drove him all the way there. Stayed a few days to help ease the transition. Waited until he told us he was ready. Now? He roams the property leash-free. No more storms shaking him to his core. Just a soft spot under someone’s legs or by his sister’s side.

This is the whole point. Not just getting them out but getting them home.

Thank you for helping us take the long way. 🩶 Want to help more dogs like Walter? • streettails.org/donate | Venmo

Smol Senior Gang Update:

When we pulled our boys, we expected routine senior stuff: dentals, neuters, soft landings. That’s still the plan but now we’ve got a few updates.

🦷 Nelson + Locket still need dentals + surgery. Stud’s already neutered, but now needs a cardiology workup for a heart murmur before we can safely move forward with his dental.

We’re adjusting our fundraising goal to cover that added specialist care for Stud. Because giving seniors a second chance means meeting all their needs (even the surprise ones).

Want to help us see this through?

Look. At. That. Face. 🥹💕

Nelson was picked up by ACCT Philly as a stray on 6/6 after neighbors said his owner had moved out, a week earlier.. He was matted, missing fur, and clearly neglected for some time. (Swipe to see his “before” photo. 💔)

Now? He’s beaming. Clean, loved, cared for and maybe even settling into his forever. 🏡

Nelson, Locket, and Stud are our Triple Neuter-Dental Senior Smol Gang. Three tiny seniors who need major medical care: dentals, neuters, and all the good stuff they’ve always deserved.

We’re committed to giving dogs like Nelson the second chance they should’ve had all along, but we need your help to finish what we started.
