👨‍⚕️ Meet Dr. Blake Setness
Originally from Neche, ND, Dr. Setness found his calling early caring for pets of all kinds. He earned his Animal Science degree from UMN Crookston (where he also played football 🏈) and his DVM from Iowa State.

He joined the Brainerd Lakes community in 2019, and when he's not in the clinic, he’s outdoors with his wife Marie, son Arthur, and their two dogs & two cats. 🐕🐈

At Pequot Lakes Animal Hospital, we love that we can combine traditional medicine with the wisdom of Chinese medicine. 🐾💊🌿

The beauty of Chinese medicine is that it’s been around for thousands of years—long before modern diagnostic tools. Practitioners relied on observation to understand and treat disease.

We still use those techniques today, especially when pets come in with chronic conditions. Even if they’re already on medication, we can step back, look at things from a new perspective, and approach the issue from a different angle.

Easter treats may be fun for us, but they can be dangerous for pets! Keep these safety tips in mind:

🐶 Chocolate is Toxic – Even small amounts can cause vomiting, increased heart rate, and seizures in pets.

🐱 Beware of Xylitol – This sugar substitute, found in sugar-free candy and gum, can cause dangerous drops in blood sugar.

🐾 Watch Out for Wrappers & Plastic Eggs – Curious pets may chew on foil wrappers, fake grass, or plastic eggs, leading to choking or digestive issues.

🌸 Keep Treats Out of Reach! Store candy securely and check your yard after egg hunts to make sure no sweets are left behind.
