The nurses, with the union of The Family Birth Center, Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital in Grass Valley. California have organized a rally and press conference to voice:

Issues confronting The Birth Center
-> ADVOCACY:
1. For safe RN staffing levels
2. For mommas/babies access to safe Birthing Center which adheres to AWHONN patient standards of care and quality outcomes.
3. For vitality of a thriving Nevada County community, providing highest-quality Birthing Center
The nurses along with the union of The Family Birth Center at Sierra Nevada Memorial have organized a Rally and Press Conference to get our voices heard promoting safe staffing which is essential to providing safe patient care by adhering to AWHONN standards for care of our Mommas and babies. As you know Commonspirit just as with many other big hospital corporations has announced they plan to cut the meat (nurses) in order to meet there “fiscal year goals”. We the nurses and union representatives at Sierra Nevada Memorial know wholeheartedly with our unit already understaffed, cutting more will create unsafe environments for all. The thought is, eventually in doing so this “big corp” will likely use that as an additional excuse to eventually close The Family Birth Center at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. Ultimately doing this lovely community a huge disservice by cutting our nursing staff even shorter and then ultimately the possibility of closing The Family Birth Center at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. Our community deserves better.
