Hazel found herself as a stray in a Texas shelter. She was rescued by a nice person and then transported to Arizona.

Although the shelter listed her as 3 years old, her pearly white teeth and behavior leads us the believe she may be closer to 1 1/2 yrs.

Hazel loves people and believes snuggling is her job. She’s good with the other dogs and loves to run and play.

Hazel is most likely a Brittany mix possibly with some terrier or herding breed. But she is smart, lovable and willing to learn.

Her adoption donation is $150. Please text Robin at 602-501-1844 for more info. If you call, please leave a message because the robo calls have been insane and I’m not answering unrecognized numbers.

Located in the Prescott, AZ area.

Update: Miss Carly had her surgery on March 24th. She’s had some complications, but now seems to be on the road to recovery. As you will see by the picture below, she has a pretty large incision that had to be reopened and cleaned out a week later. Poor baby.

The pathology report also came back stating the masses were cancerous but with clean margins.
The vet suggests, however, that she have chest X-rays again in a few weeks and then every 3 months.

Carly will remain in her permanent foster home where she is well cared for and loved.

Thanks to all that donated to her surgery.

If you would like to donate for Carly’s on-going care, it would be greatly appreciated. You can donate one of three ways:

Miss Carly came to us in 2024. She was relinquished to a Utah shelter after being bred many times over. She came to us with a heart murmur, numerous mammary tumors and glaucoma in her eye. Back in 2024, we spent $4100 on heart tests, X-rays, and tumor & eye removal. Carlie was as sweet as could be, but a real hot mess medically.

Carly has been in permanent foster because of her medical issues. Here we are two years later and two more mammary tumors have appeared.

We need a little help covering Carly’s medical expenses. The first visit was $223 where they did chest X-rays to confirm cancer had NOT spread to her lungs. The estimate for the surgery is $1700-$1900. A picture of the estimate is shown in this post.

Thanks to Phoenix Animal Care Coalition (PACC911) we have secured a $1000 grant but still need to cover the difference of approximately $1100.

Your donation at this time would be greatly appreciated. You can donate one of three ways:

While most of us often feel our Brittanys are not hearing our commands (when they’re actually just ignoring us) Banjo has a legitimate reason.

At approximately one year old, Banjo is hearing impaired. We feel he does hear certain tones, but does not have full hearing capacity. Because of this challenge, his original family felt they could not properly care for him.

Banjo would do best with an older buddy dog that he can follow and learn from. He loves other dogs and is pretty sure EVERYONE loves him. He would do best where his family is home more than away.

Banjo was altered on 1/15/26 and has his age appropriate vaccines.

If you are interested in giving Banjo a home and helping him learn to be a responsible adult Brittany, please contact us at [email protected]

Meet Thor, a charming 7-year-old English Setter ready to bring joy and companionship into your life.

This energetic yet laid-back boy loves watching birds and strolling on a leash. He gets along great with all dogs and adores people.

To ensure Thor's happiness, his new home should have a securely fenced yard. Ideally, he'll thrive with a canine companion and an owner who's frequently home, as he does experience some separation anxiety.

Thor is up-to-date on vaccinations, neutered, and has recent bloodwork. Our adoption process includes an application, meet-and-greet, reference check, and home visit.

If you're interested in welcoming Thor into your family, please email us at [email protected] to request an application.

This Giving Tuesday, we hope you will consider supporting us with a financial donation. Our latest intakes all have medical conditions requiring testing and potential surgery.

Brutus has a seizure condition we are attempting to diagnose. The vet has recommended a neuro consult and possible MRI

Thor has a hard lump requiring testing and possible removal.

Doc requires ongoing care for his eye condition.

Carrie, adopted ten years ago, was returned to us via microchip after her owner passed away, and is battling Valley Fever and a cyst requiring removal.

Carrie (15) and Carley (8) are in a permanent foster home due to age and heart conditions.

Currently, we do not have any adoptable dogs. Just medical and sanctuary dogs.

We have not done any fund raising for several months, yet the expenses still exist. Your financial donation would be greatly appreciated.

Catherine was a former Brittany Rescue AZ adopter and foster momma for multiple Brittanys. Ironically, one of her last foster pups (Aug 2023) passed away unexpectedly a day after Catherine.

I will always remember the day, many moons ago, when she called me upset that her foster got in the pantry and pulled out a bunch of food —chips, macaroni, & cans he couldn’t open! I couldnt help but laugh and then she started to laugh too!

You will be greatly missed Catherine Garnier Ritthaler

We are honored that Catherine’s family has requested that donations be made to Brittany Rescue AZ recognizing her kindness and love for the Brittanys.
