If you’ve recently noticed your dog or cat has been urinating excessively or drinking more than usual, it could be a sign that your pet has diabetes mellitus. Other clinical signs include:
• Unexplained weight loss
• Persistent or recurrent urinary tract infections
• Weakness and muscle wasting
• Cataracts (usually in dogs)
• Peripheral neuropathies
