Ziggy came to us with worsening urinary incontinence, and after further testing, an MRI revealed the cause — a large cyst pressing on his lower spine. Our neurology team performed surgery to drain the cyst and help prevent it from returning.

We’re happy to report that Ziggy is recovering well! He’s made Oradell his home-away-from-home, enjoying all the finer things in life: catnip, kick sticks, sunny window views from the neurology office, and, of course, endless pets from the staff who adore him. 💕🐱

This zoonotic disease is typically transmitted through contact with contaminated water, soil, or infected animals' urine. It's important to understand the risks and take preventive measures to keep our pets and families safe. Vaccination, proper hygiene, and avoiding high-risk environments are key in minimizing the chances of contracting leptospirosis.

The warm weather is here again! Hot weather can be dangerous, even deadly. Some dogs are more vulnerable than others such as Brachycephalic breeds, dogs with thick coats, older pets, and overweight pets.

Brachycephalic breeds such as French Bulldogs, English Bulldogs, American Bulldogs, Pugs, Boston Terriers, Chow Chows, Pekingese and others cannot pant properly due to the shape of their faces and airway anatomy. Panting is how dogs cool down. These breeds can succumb to heatstroke in a very short amount of time.

Signs of heatstroke include heavy panting, drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, collapse and more.

Please monitor your pet vigilantly during these hot summer months and contact your veterinarian immediately if your pet shows any signs of heatstroke or respiratory distress.
