🚨 Emergency Surgery Success 🚨

Hannah rushed Bubba to Evergreen Veterinary Clinic after a serious workplace injury involving his nose.

The detached nose was transported on ice and Bubba was taken straight to surgery. After a delicate reconstructive procedure, we’re happy to report the nose was successfully reattached.

Bubba was an excellent patient, although his anesthesia requirements were suspiciously low…

He recovered well, was discharged with a nasal bandage & immediately violated his post-op cuddle restrictions.

Most importantly, Bubba has been reunited with Hannah and is expected to make a full recovery.

Workers’ compensation paperwork has been filed. Bubba is currently seeking compensation for pain, suffering, emotional distress & loss of nose.

🕷️🐾 We recently diagnosed a dog with Anaplasma — one of several tick-borne diseases we commonly see in dogs here in Nebraska.

Anaplasma is a bacteria transmitted through tick bites, most commonly from deer ticks. Once an infected tick attaches and feeds, it can pass the organism into a dog’s bloodstream.

Some dogs never show signs and are only caught through routine yearly testing. Others can become very sick and may develop:
• Fever
• Lethargy/extreme fatigue
• Limping or joint pain
• Decreased appetite
• Bruising or bleeding issues
• Low platelet counts

One of the tricky things about tick-borne diseases is that pets can appear completely normal while still testing positive — which is exactly why annual heartworm and tick disease testing is so important, even for dogs on prevention year-round.

The good news is that Anaplasma is often very treatable when caught early, typically with antibiotics like doxycycline. 💙

The BEST protection? Prevention.
Monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention significantly lowers your pet’s risk of exposure to ticks and the diseases they carry.

Ticks are already very active this season, so now is the time to make sure your pets are protected! 🌲🐶🕷️

This week we’re celebrating Veterinary Assistant Week, and today we’re celebrating one of the very best — Leah. 🐾

Leah is the kind of person every pet hopes is there when they’re scared, sleepy, or recovering from surgery. Whether she’s comforting nervous patients, giving endless cuddles after a neuter, or making sure every pet feels safe and loved, she puts her whole heart into what she does.

The quiet moments matter just as much as the medical ones, and Leah never misses a chance to make an animal feel cared for. We are so lucky to have her on our team, and our patients and clients are even luckier. 💚

Thank you, Leah, for your compassion, patience, kindness, and the love you give to every single pet and owner that walks through our doors.

Theodore ran the numbers and discovered he could not afford 6–8 dependents per fiscal quarter. He called this “a proactive financial decision during uncertain economic times.”
