The Ozark-Dale County Humane Society was established in 2004. It is a small shelter located in Ozark, Alabama. ODCHS is a no-kill, not-for-profit, registered 501(c)3 organization. (Donations are tax deductible.) **Donations and fundraisers are the ONLY sources of income for the shelter.**
The goal of ODCHS is to care for and find loving homes for cats and dogs who have been abused, neglected, or abandoned.
Our adoption process requires an application to ensure that your environment is a good fit for the pet you wish to adopt. (Application can be filled out at the shelter; or on our website listed at the bottom of this page.) Upon approval, a contract is required. The main purpose of the contract is to provide a mutual understanding that the pet will be cared for according to the expectations of the ODCHS.
Donation for adoption-
For dogs--$125.00 minimum donation-included is spay or neuter, all vaccinations and dewormings, heartworm test and preventative up to date if applicable (age), and a microchip.
For cats--$75.00 minimum donation-included is spay or neuter, all vaccinations and dewormings, and FeLV/FIV testing.
(Also included is any other health care they may have needed while at the shelter.)
We welcome all volunteers. Their contributions are invaluable to the operation of our organization and the adoptability of our orphans. There are only two requirements: You must love animals and sign a liability release. If you are under the age of 18 it must be signed by a parent or legal guardian.
You are always welcome to stop by the shelter to meet all the adoptables. At any given time there may be cats or dogs who are not posted on any of our sites. They may be on hold for several different reasons.
Facebook message, call/come by the shelter, or visit our website listed below for more info and ways to support.
Thank you for your interest! Adopting, supporting, or volunteering-we hope to see you soon...
