This post is in response to a Facebook post concerning a dog we took into our care named Tobias – the facebook post is not accurate and very offensive.

*We took Tobias in as an owner surrender when the owner could no longer care for Tobias. We were given proof (AKC paperwork/vet records etc) that this person was indeed the owner of Tobias.
*Tobias was microchipped, but when checking the chip information, it was showing not registered/no record found. This wasn’t concerning as we had proof of ownership from the owner. He was NOT surrendered to us as a stray.
*He was vetted through our spay and neuter clinic.
*On Saturday we were contacted from the Hungarian Pumi Association out of Texas about Tobias and our staff told the lady she would need to speak with the Manager on Monday as management was not working on the weekend.
*On Saturday after 5:00 pm we began to receive messages from someone named Erica that we did not notify her that we had received Tobias into our facility. This person did not identify herself but did lead us to believe she thought Tobias was hers. During a very short period of time we received emails/facebook messages/and messages through our Petfinder account that was very demanding and inappropriate. All of this was received after hours.
*On Sunday, this person Erica came to the Owensboro Humane Society demanding to speak to management, and demanding to see and take Tobias with her. She caused such a scene that the staff on duty called the manager. The person was heard yelling, screaming and cursing by the manager at the staff. The staff repeatedly told her she needed to leave but she could call on Monday and speak with management. She refused to leave and the Daviess County Sheriffs office was contacted. This person was trespassed from our property.
1. When we took Tobias into our care, he was badly needing socialization, love and companionship. He could not even walk as he didn’t know how. He had to be carried everywhere. He now walks on a leash and goes outside for playtime and bathroom breaks. He has come out of his shell, loves to walk and loves to see people. He has THRIVED.
2. We will never just turn a dog over to someone that says its their dog – there are proper avenues to take and none of which were even close to being used.
3. Now the breeder (Heather Yount) is saying Tobias is her dog – she has never contacted anyone at the Owensboro Humane Society.
4. As of this morning (Monday), someone else has contacted us and is claiming ownership.
5. We will not argue our case in Facebook Court.
6. For the people arguing ownership its only about money for them. Its not about Tobias and his well being – not ONE person has asked how he is doing.
7. TOBIAS has been adopted and is now in a loving home.
