Clinic Description: Opportunity to get specific and real-time feedback of your horse/rider partnership in a dressage test of your choosing. 30-minute private lesson with immediate input and suggestions.

Clinic Set Up:
Choose your test in advance and communicate as such to Tamarind Ranch. The day will begin with coffee and a short explanation of Dressage Test Etiquette in the heated clubhouse. Warm up will be around the property and in the round pen. Each participant will have a 30-minute private lesson in the arena. Nancy will discuss some general suggestions and how to's for your specific test. You will ride the test as a "caller" reads each upcoming move. Nancy will provide feedback and suggestions so the rider can go again. Each time the rider will receive real time and applicable feedback. The Rider can provide their phone or recording device and an amateur will video either the entire session or final test, whatever the participant specifies.
A dressage test reader (or caller) stands outside the arena and reads the test aloud, exactly as written, for the rider, acting as a safety net to prevent memorization errors

Clinician Nancy Barnes: Nancy has 60 years of learning, showing and teaching experience. She successfully competed at USDF second level and schooled third level. 30-minute private lesson, ride your test, get feedback real time, practice areas for improvement, leave with a video of your ride and items to work on.

Dressage Test: A dressage test is a set series of precise movements, like circles, halts, and transitions between gaits (walk, trot, canter) that a horse and rider perform in a specific arena to demonstrate the horse's training, obedience, and athleticism for a judge, with scores from 0-10 for each movement contributing to a final percentage score. These tests progress through difficulty levels, from simple walk/trot patterns at Introductory level to complex Grand Prix movements like pirouettes and flying changes, showcasing the horse's harmonious development.

Fascinating. Herd animals can’t self regulate their nervous system in their own. They require others. As we enter 2026 let’s all learn how to be close to each other. How to build a better, more loving world while respecting each others boundaries but being close to each other even from a distance.
