We have (10) folks signed up for the AFA precert in a couple weeks. It will be limited at 14. You will need to register on the FAWS website and the AFA website. These clinics are designed to make you comfortable with all aspects of the exams. You will receive lots of feedback and information to take home with you to help you successfuly prepare. If AFA certification is something you are interested in, this clinic is not to be missed!!

Only a couple spots left for the AFA Pre Certification clinic hosted by FAWS April 12-13 at Stray Dog Forge located on beautiful Whidbey Island.
If you’re interested in learning about the AFA Certification process this is a great opportunity. We will go over all aspects of the tests including the written, shoe displays, bar shoes, trimming, fitting, shoeing, scoring, etc.
You will need to register on the AFA website and the FAWS website.
Steel and shoes will be available, and a couple forging stations as well (pm for availability).

It’s been a week since the Farriers Association of Washington States NW Triple Crown. We were very happy how it turned out. We had 44 entries but 40 competitors in the end. What a great group of people to spend the weekend with. They were appreciative and helpful and are always so supportive of each other.
There is a ton of work that goes on before the competition, it’s good to see it all come together. I would like to thank our sponsors:
Saturday nights banquet dinner was sponsored by Farriers Education Fund. That was a big one. Competitor t-shirt sponsors were Kahn Forge, South Sound Equine Practice, Farrier Product Distribution, Oregon Farrier School, Mustad USA, Valley Farrier Supply, Farrier Education Fund, and Olympia Farrier Supply
Overall buckets were supplied by FAWS and tool holder by Salcito Knives. 1st place belt buckles were sponsored by Triple H Arena, South Sound Equine, and Olympia Farrier Supply. Second place Kershaw knives were sponsored by The Farm Store, Tack Room Too, and big Skinny and Mustad donated Mustad bucks and second place Novice also got a Hoof- it stand. 3rd place Yeti cup Sponsors were Pond-a-Luce-a Stables, The Dying Breed, and Anvil Brand and GDM tools from Mustad USA. Dr Clark from South Sound Equine Services donated the entry fee for one Novice entry that all names were put in a drawing.
Product donations came from Easycare, Life Data Labs, Salcito knives, Hawthorne, Grooms Hand, Rusty Brown Jewelry, Anvil Brand, Glue-u, SmartPak, Hoof-it, Chehalis Rental, EDSS, Hoof Guard, Victory, and Double S.
Thank you Shana Hines for being in charge of the food for that many people, All weekend. Thank you all that brought horse on Sunday. Thank you Triple H for the use of you facility all weekend. Thank you Si Harder for the engraving of the knives and Yeti cups and the design of this years logo. Thank you FAWS for the support you give to all these farriers. I hope I didn’t miss anyone.
