Looking for donations! Anyone interested in helping are more than welcome to drop off anything at the shop for us to bring over to Essex animal control.

Calling Essex, Chester, Deep River and Westbrook. Our regional animal shelter is in need of dry and wet dog food for the current dogs residing at the pound.

All donations can be left in the bin located outside the shelter on Dump Rd. Thank you in advance!

WHAT YOU DON'T SEE AT THE DOG GROOMERS.......
You dropped your dog off at the salon and picked them up few hours later - fluffy, fresh, and happy. But what you saw was just the tip of the iceberg.

You didn’t see your groomer arrive early to open up the salon, disinfect tools, lay out fresh towels, and check the day’s appointments. You didn’t see them look over your dog from nose to tail before even lifting a brush - checking the coat condition, skin, eyes, ears, nails, and weight.

You didn’t see the careful way they clipped around a wriggly paw, or how they paused to let your dog calm down during the bath. You didn’t notice the matting hidden beneath your dog’s topcoat, or the way the groomer worked slowly to avoid hurting the skin beneath it.

You weren’t there when they spotted a red patch of irritated skin, or a small lump you hadn’t noticed. You heard them gently mention it to you at collection - not to worry you, but because they genuinely care about your dog’s wellbeing.

And after you left, you didn’t see the clean-down , the floor swept, tables cleaned, blades oiled, messages replied to, notes written up for your next visit, and laundry on again.

All of that… for a price that’s often lower than what you’d pay for your own haircut. And your hairdresser?
They don’t have to bathe you, clip your nails, or hold you still while you try to bite the brush.

The truth is ……. dog grooming is so much more than a haircut.

It’s about health, hygiene, comfort, and trust. It’s about knowing dog anatomy, coat types, skin conditions, behaviour management, handling skills, and safe sc******ng techniques. It’s a profession that takes training, practice, and patience.
Most groomers got into this work because they love dogs. But that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be paid fairly for the physical, emotional, and skilled work they do every single day.

If your dog leaves their groomer happy, healthy and looking good - it’s not by luck. It’s because you have got a good groomer.
So next time, take a moment to thank them. Leave a review.

Tip them if you can. And above all - don’t undervalue them.

Good afternoon everyone!! I hope you are all prepared for a little snow this weekend and are enjoying the new year. Just a quick note:
We will be on winter break this upcoming week. CLOSED Tuesday January 21st through Friday and will reopen Saturday Jan 25th at 9a. All calls and messages will be returned as quickly as possible when we return and I ask for some extra patience to get back to you. Looking forward to snow pup pictures please send them along!

Friendly reminder not to drop off your flea and tick prevention just because it’s cold. In the past week I’ve been seeing micro ticks, and some fleas. Until the ground is frozen they are out there and searching for warm bodies.

It seems like this past month has just flown by!!
As we make our way into spooky season I want to send a heads up for scheduling, currently my first available haircut appointment is the week before Thanksgiving. That’s right, we are booking into the holiday season 🫠
If you know you want your pup groomed for the holidays now is the time to get in touch! I want to be sure everyone has their slots. I am thinking ahead, limiting the winter schedule as well so there is room for rescheduling any snow days.

Good morning all! For those waiting on call backs I just wanted to reach out and explain. Had a bit of scare with our guy Beau this week, his eyes were in rough shape and loosing vision. It took majority of the day to find the right place to bring him for help, he has since been diagnosed, and is on the mend after a night in the emergency clinic. I will be working hard to get back to everyone today and I sincerely appreciate the patience. On a side note I cannot stress the importance of flea and tick preventative, even with his on board Beau has suffered from the effects of Anaplasmosis.

With the summer break coming to a close, I’d like to share with all of you that Beau made his dock diving debut over the weekend. Not only did he reach personal best every jump but came home with his first title!
For those of you looking to get your dog into a sport or just want to work on obedience, Central K9 is the place to go! There are all types of fun things to do with your pup and well worth reaching out.
On that note I hope everyone had a safe and fun holiday week and I will be back in the shop in full swing Tuesday morning at 8a. Thank you for all those who have patiently waited for returns on voicemails and messages I will get back to all asap.

Hi Pawfection Gang! Heads up that the Shop is currently closed for summer break. We will reopen for regular shop hours Tuesday July 9th at 8am. All calls, texts, and emails will have responses by the end of next week. We are currently booking out to August 10th and onward.
Have a safe and happy Fourth of July week! Be sure to have your calming meds, and pets leashed and secured ready for upcoming inevitable firework demonstrations! Being prepared can help prevent loose and lost pets!

Good morning all happy Tuesday! Just a heads up on scheduling. We are swamped over here with calls, text, emails and online bookings. I am doing my best to get to everyone in the order they’ve been received. Currently first available slots are into August, WOW!! We will continue to keep books closed to new clients to accommodate our current peeps.
For those that need appointments please reach out, for those that have standing appointments please bare in mind if you cannot keep your slot to reach out with as much notice as possible, there are those that have been pushed out that would LOVE to swap slots with you, with enough notice we can make that happen!!
