I had so many of you reach out to me about how our first three day barrel race went, and I made a promise to post the video of our best run of the weekend. It was a very fun weekend, we put down five runs each one quicker then the last. We are at it again next month!

Good morning all!
Just a heads up, our shop will be CLOSED Friday May 16th through the weekend as Harmony and I are off to our first three day barrel race of the season! We will reopen for normal hours Tuesday the 20th. All messsges and calls will be returned as quickly as possible but I do ask for a few days to catch up.

He is a gorgeous shepherd who lived with other dogs. Unfortunately, his owner passed away. He is now looking for a new home with breed experience. He loves toys and is ready for a family to bring him on long walks and long cuddles.

If you’re interested in Jagger, he would love to have you fill out an adoption application on the Essex Town website! After applications are reviewed we will call you for a meet and greet!

Notes from the grooming table:
Hi ya’ll! First and foremost a quick thank you to all of our loyal clients whom keep us so busy! It really is a blessing. Of course with our constant demanding schedule I must do some scheduling house keeping.
We still are not taking on any new clients. The schedule currently is booking into mid June for first available slots.
To best accommodate all these wonderful pups I must insist you come on time to your appointments or a little beforehand and ask any cancelations call asap when you know you cannot make your appointment. Those who are later than 15 minutes cannot be accommodated that day. The more advance notice when you need to cancel an appointment allows me to possibly find you another client to swap with to avoid getting pushed way out on the books If I don’t know at least a day in advance, I may not be able to find you a new slot within six weeks of set appointment.
All those clients who are on a five and six week schedules are encouraged to book out as I might not be able to find you a future appointment within five weeks when we go to rebook at pick up. Even just staying one appointment ahead helps and gives me the ability to swap you if you need to change date or time of your appointments when life happens.
Please also note that clients who no call, and no show will be charged 50% of your total for that Grooming service in order to rebook another.
Finally, smoothing and grinding nail services will continue to be included for those on a 5 week or less schedule (those who come in between grooms for nails are also entitled to this free service) those who are 6 week or more can add smoothing or grinding to their grooming package for an additional $5 plus tax.

Looking for donations! Anyone interested in helping are more than welcome to drop off anything at the shop for us to bring over to Essex animal control.

Calling Essex, Chester, Deep River and Westbrook. Our regional animal shelter is in need of dry and wet dog food for the current dogs residing at the pound.

All donations can be left in the bin located outside the shelter on Dump Rd. Thank you in advance!

WHAT YOU DON'T SEE AT THE DOG GROOMERS.......
You dropped your dog off at the salon and picked them up few hours later - fluffy, fresh, and happy. But what you saw was just the tip of the iceberg.

You didn’t see your groomer arrive early to open up the salon, disinfect tools, lay out fresh towels, and check the day’s appointments. You didn’t see them look over your dog from nose to tail before even lifting a brush - checking the coat condition, skin, eyes, ears, nails, and weight.

You didn’t see the careful way they clipped around a wriggly paw, or how they paused to let your dog calm down during the bath. You didn’t notice the matting hidden beneath your dog’s topcoat, or the way the groomer worked slowly to avoid hurting the skin beneath it.

You weren’t there when they spotted a red patch of irritated skin, or a small lump you hadn’t noticed. You heard them gently mention it to you at collection - not to worry you, but because they genuinely care about your dog’s wellbeing.

And after you left, you didn’t see the clean-down , the floor swept, tables cleaned, blades oiled, messages replied to, notes written up for your next visit, and laundry on again.

All of that… for a price that’s often lower than what you’d pay for your own haircut. And your hairdresser?
They don’t have to bathe you, clip your nails, or hold you still while you try to bite the brush.

The truth is ……. dog grooming is so much more than a haircut.

It’s about health, hygiene, comfort, and trust. It’s about knowing dog anatomy, coat types, skin conditions, behaviour management, handling skills, and safe sc******ng techniques. It’s a profession that takes training, practice, and patience.
Most groomers got into this work because they love dogs. But that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be paid fairly for the physical, emotional, and skilled work they do every single day.

If your dog leaves their groomer happy, healthy and looking good - it’s not by luck. It’s because you have got a good groomer.
So next time, take a moment to thank them. Leave a review.

Tip them if you can. And above all - don’t undervalue them.

Good afternoon everyone!! I hope you are all prepared for a little snow this weekend and are enjoying the new year. Just a quick note:
We will be on winter break this upcoming week. CLOSED Tuesday January 21st through Friday and will reopen Saturday Jan 25th at 9a.
