Merlin, a 1-year-old standard poodle, got a little too curious and decided to take a bite out of the couch! His owner wasn’t sure how much time had passed, so we took x-rays - and found his stomach full of fabric, leather, and food. Thankfully, we acted fast to remove it, preventing a dangerous blockage. Yesterday, our team at UrgentVet Mckinney had the solemn honor of providing care for K9 Officer Azi, a devoted partner who gave his life in the line of duty. Azi was a hero, a protector, and a beloved member of the McKinney Police Department.

Our hearts go out to Azi’s handler, fellow officers, and all who knew and loved him. His dedication and bravery will never be forgotten.

Rest easy, K9 Officer Azi. You were deeply loved, and your service will always be remembered. It was a privilege to care for you.

🚨 OFFICIAL STATEMENT: OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING 🚨

The McKinney Police Department has released an official statement regarding the officer-involved shooting that occurred on March 13, 2025, at the Red Roof Inn on 1300 North Central Expressway.

The investigation remains active and has been turned over to the Texas Rangers. There is no ongoing threat to the public.

Today, we're zooming in on ear mites, those tiny troublemakers that love to set up camp in our pets' ears! 🐾 Ear mites are microscopic parasites that can cause itching, inflammation, and even infections. They’re most commonly found in cats but can affect dogs too. Symptoms include excessive scratching, shaking of the head, and dark, crumbly discharge that looks like coffee grounds. We diagnose them with a quick ear swab and microscope check. Treatment usually involves cleaning the ears and applying medicated drops to get rid of the mites.
