Are you coming to DOG-O-RAMA on Sept 18, 19 & 20th in Long Beach, WA to watch all the fun? šŸ• Well, you don't have to be a wallflower! We invite you to join us and get right in the middle of the action! Grab a friend and share the fun!
We have some fun volunteer opportunities we are seeking to fill. Would you like to learn more about some of these events? Want a front row to the action? Well, here is your chance. We have a few key roles we are seeking volunteers to fill that will put you in the center of the action - and they are easy and do not require event experience because we will make sure you know everything you need to know and we have very nice and experienced judges too! šŸ‘€
Seeking 2 Ring Stewards and a Table Steward for our AKC Fetch fields on Saturday Sept 19th and a Table Steward also for Sunday, Sept 20th. The Ring Stewards support the judge on the field. Can you move cones? Or place an object at a marked distance? Then this job is for you!! Our judges will tell you what to do and we'll fill you in on everything about your role and the event before it starts šŸ¾
The Table Stewards check people into the event and make sure the judge is ready for them before they enter the field. This means writing their info down on the event sheet and handing out a form for the event if someone doesn't already have one. That's it. See? Easy! And you'll make a lot of new friends and meet a lot of nice dogs! And it also means giving out some ribbons. Yay!!! No better way to have fun than to be right in the middle of it!! šŸŽÆ
We are also seeking 1 Farm Dog Table Steward for Saturday. This job is the same as we just described - giving out a form if someone needs one, writing down info on our event sheet and handing out ribbons. šŸ’
AND .... We need one table steward and one ring steward both Saturday and Sunday for our disc dog events. The table steward will check dogs in when it is their time to perform and help record results as needed. And the ring steward will help keep the field in order if things get mucked up by the dogs. Which we expect. Because the dogs will be going fast! šŸ© This event is filled with high-flying action! And our disc events are one of our big competitions at DOG-O-RAMA! Who do you think will win? šŸ˜Ž

I have a new class starting in September.

Attention Unleashed.

Leashes are important but what happens when we stop using them? Or when we go to take the leash off for advanced obedience? When you donā€™t have that tool does everything fall apart?

In this class we will explore building trust in your dog while you build value in you. Utilizing games pretty soon you wonā€™t panic if your dog ends up loose and youā€™ll learn how fun it is to move onto the next level of training.

Thereā€™s more to a show dog than just the ribbons and awards.

Thereā€™s the bond you develop through training, conditioning, travel, grooming and sitting at shows sharing lunchables and cheezits waiting for ringtimes. Itā€™s miles of travel and hotels.

None of that makes a show dog. Because the real thing that makes a dog show is the heart they have. Showing is physically demanding and mentally demanding. A true show dog loves it. The ring is their happy place and they live for the show experience.

Remy is an unusual dog in a lot of ways. He has a classic chiseled sheltie head, melting expression, and the structure and movement to last all day.

But he has so much more. He has the work ethic to train for hours, the biddability to train nuances, the physical fitness to show for hours, and the mental stability to take it all in stride. Iā€™ve put more demands on him at under 2 than many dogs can do at 4 or 5, and each time he just rises to the top. Whether that is rally at the national, or a 14 hour double show he just rises to meet the challenge. The reason is he loves to work. While he has an off switch and will happily settle in the house he just wants to learn and engage.

I canā€™t wait to see where this takes us in the future but right now I just know that every day is a great day with Remy. Photos from this past weekend. We showed 3 times with an Owner Handled group 4, 2, & 1, and a regular Group 4
