is a compassionate and dedicated volunteer based, limited intake pet rescue and adoption provider established in April 2007. Our goal is to give unwanted and homeless cats a chance to find love, safety and medical assistance when needed through the volunteers efforts with the financial support of private donations and grants. Our main focus is cats and kittens in Levy and Marion counties. Shelteri

ng Hands encourages and participates in spay/neuter programs in the area and limited intake of cats . In addition, the organization provides educational tools and information about responsible pet care within the community.

We made a trip out to Lake Lillian during their Friday Foodie Fest where we met up with our friends from the Belleview Chamber and Economic Partnership and Wilmek. If you don't know, the next PAW Chili Challenge and Hub-Cat Car Show will be making its debut there, and this was a perfect event to go and see the area in action. There were some truly decadent creations being served up, too. And, a very special guest absolutely could not sit this out! While we know "Tuxe" was busy enjoying the limeight, we know he was really here to get a head start on the competition.

We're so excited for this event! This year will be the first time this event acts a regional qualifier for competitive chili cooks who travel the nation! We're going to be working with some wonderful experts to host a car show built around the love of the hobby. We are going to celebrate our Partners in Animal Welfare, inviting more organizations to join in the festivities and raise awareness for their cause. Working with businesses who share our passion and love for the community we know we can make a bigger impact in the lives of the animals we serve!

The Sheltering Hands Thrift Shoppe has more great deals available this week! All items marked with a GREEN price tag are on sale for 50% OFF their ticketed price. Next up, all items in our This & That Room are HALF-OFF of their sale value. From tools to televisions, you never know what you will find in that portion of the store. Come check-out all the goodies we've gathered for you, and see what treasures you can find. Finally, we are always in need of donations! If you need a good new home for your once loved items, please consider donating to our Thrift Shoppe! This store is powered by the provisions of our supporters, and through donations we receive we are able to raise operational expenses in our fight for feline wellness! Your donation can lead to sale, and in turn that money can lead to a feral cat being fixed, a kitten being medically prepared to for adoption, and the extended care of senior animals without forever homes!

Our first ever Battle of the Paddles was a big success and a lot of fun! Thank you to Laurie Cammarn and Barbara Dimon for being the driving force behind this effort to raise resources for the clinic and spread the mission of Sheltering Hands. It is with your efforts that this wonderful night could exist! Thank you to the sponsors who helped provide funding, supplies, and prizes for the paddle auction. Shout out to the vendors who came out and provided our guests with more ways to connect!

BIG NEWS! 🥳🐱😎😍 We achieved no-kill status in 2024! That means we’re saving 90% or more of the pets who enter our shelter, and it’s all thanks to our amazing staff, volunteers, fosters, supporters, and rescue partners. Help! Our shelter is in need of Printer Paper, Paper Towels, and 13 Gallon Trash Bags. Often animal welfare organizations like ours can find avenues to supplement our health/wellness supplies, but these essential goods are hardly ever available through food banks or programs. We use paper towels regularly for surgery tray preparation, printer paper for medical reports, and caring for our feline friends produces a number of wastes that need disposing!

To donate you can either visit our wishlists on Chewy or Amazon below. Additionally, supplies can be brought to our Main Clinic or Thrift Shoppe (addresses below) during business hours. We greatly appreciate any help given from our community of caregivers!

These are just some of the goodies up for grabs. The BATTLE OF THE PADDLES is happening this SATURDAY August 16th 2025 at the Water Oak Country Club Estates in Lady Lake, FL. This exciting event will be benefitting Sheltering Hands while offering guests a fun way to show their support while possibly winning some great prizes! Seating is limited! WE ARE ALMOST SOLD OUT!!!

A quarter auction is a fundraising function that combines elements of a raffle, auction, and bingo. Participants purchase numbered paddles for a small donation and bid on items by placing quarters in bowls corresponding to the item and the number of paddles they'd like to use. A winning number is drawn, and if it matches a paddle held up by a bidder, they win the item at a fraction of its retail price!

Paddles are $2 Each for this Event
Advance Tickets come in Packets of 2 for $4 or 5 Paddles for $10.

Understand that the purchase of each battle guarantees you a seat at the event, but if you plan on bringing multiple guests you will need a separate Packet for each guest!

Additional Details: Bring Your Own Snacks & Beverages. Also, you will need to bring a few rolls of quarters so you can participate and bid throughout the event!

CONGRATULATIONS BENJI!!! ❤🤩🐱This little fella has found his way to a forever home, and we know he will become an adored part of his new family! If you visit the Thrift Shoppe in Lady Lake, you may have been lucky enough to meet Benji on one of the few occasions he made it to visit. His fosters Bob and Lee have volunteered there since day before the doors even opened, and they thought he was so special he needed to be shared with the world!

While he only spent about two months with our organization, we know this kitten was cradled with constant love in all things. Thank to Benji's wonderful fosters and the team of caregivers who surrounded this kitten throughout his journey to a happy beginning!
