We're a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to pawsitively bettering the world. One cat at a time. Sheltering Hands, Inc.

is a compassionate and dedicated volunteer based, limited intake pet rescue and adoption provider established in April 2007. Our goal is to give unwanted and homeless cats a chance to find love, safety and medical assistance when needed through the volunteers efforts with the financial support of private donations and grants. Our main focus is cats and kittens in Levy and Marion counties. Shelteri

🥰What is the Sheltering Hands Love for a Lifetime Program? 🥲

Cats (age 8+) are placed with a senior human (75+) in a foster model program that allows seniors to foster a cat until the caregiver can no longer care for the cat or the cat passes. Sheltering Hands provides all needed medical care for the life of the cat and the cat can be returned to Sheltering Hands at any time. The love of a pet provides significant health benefits to seniors and the companionship that is missing now. The cat enjoys the love and stability of a home while living out their days with dignity!

🥹🏫😻🚨HELP US CONGRATULATE ALL THESE LUCKY CATS & KITTENS WHO FOUND A FOREVER HOME!!! Thank you Florida Animal Friend for providing our organization resources towards the fight for feline wellbeing! Congratulations to our adopted furry friends during the month of April! These lucky little ones are off to their forever homes and the new family therein.

Whether they were with us only for a few brief moments or if they felt love of many hands during their time with Sheltering Hands, these feline friends always leave a big impact on our hearts. Once an animal enters into our care system, we are committed to always being there for them. By the grace of the compassionate hearts and tireless workings of our team and volunteers, we are able to serve these animals in the ways they need us! Thank you to everyone who helps share the story of our cats as it it can often lead to the right person finding the cat at the perfect time! With your help we are able to build a stronger community more capable of aiding these animals depending on us!!!

😎🔥💜OPEN APPOINTMENTS - SCHEDULE SURGERY NOW📅📓🥊

Overpopulation in cats will always be a challenge with each new feline born into a world lacking enough caregivers, homes, supplies, and sadly compassion. The love that this community has for its animals is so powerful, but with over a quarter million homeless cats in our area alone, the need is too great. Spay/Neuter is the only humane solution to provide the best quality of life for these little ones depending on us!

To help fulfill our mission to serve these animals, Sheltering Hands offers Low-Cost Spay/Neuter services that include surgery, general medical examination, flea preventive treatment, pain medicine, rabies vaccine, and the FVRCP vaccine. These wraparound services ensure that every cat that goes through our clinic has been given all the essential care that is needed in addition to their operation. This service costs $70 per a Cat, and the following additional items can item:

$25 Microchip
$30 FeLV/FIV testing
$10 Tapeworm Treatment

😻🏠❤This is Stevie! Thanks to the impression he left on the very thoughtful human in his life, he is the source of inspiration and namesake to a special grant within Sheltering Hands that serves community cats. That is where Stevie's story started! Along with his siblings, Stevie once lived outdoors. Over the years of connecting with animals, his owner had developed a special compassion for the many black cats that can often struggle to find homes in shelters. This lucky fellow and his two siblings were rescued by her, and they were given a new shot at happiness. Despite having come from the wild and his adventures as a barn cat, Stevie grew closer to the home he now had. And then one day there he was - a part of a family tucked in a cozy, and calm home.

Stevie would have to continue on his journey though, but when he crossed over the rainbow bridge he did not leave the world unchanged. Stevie's had left a great impression on the woman who cared for him. He showed his world the promise a single animal life can have; how they can change, evolve, and recreate themselves just like people when given the right environments.

To create hope and provide help for the people out there trying to serve these animals, Stevie's mom has donated the financial resources needed to power 🤓🙀🤩"Stevie's Fund". This grant within Sheltering Hands is available for community and unhoused cats who need additional wound care or emergency medical services. The animals that can benefit from this fund are the ones who are in some of the most desperate situations when they arrive at our facilities. They don't have owners to take them to the vet or to take responsibility for their care. In most cases, they have been rescued by trappers who are volunteers giving their time trying to get unhoused animals in for spay and neuter surgeries. This fund truly helps those that are helping give better care to the cats, and we could not be more grateful for this grant to Sheltering Hands!!!

Sheltering Hands is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) low-cost feline spay/neuter clinic and shelter serving our surrounding community with compassion, grit, and a whole lot of cat hair. Our Ocala shelter and Lady Lake Thrift Shoppe work hand-in-hand to support lifesaving programs for cats in need. What You’ll Do

🚐 Transport donations between:

Our Ocala shelter
Lady Lake Thrift Shoppe
Community donor locations

📦 Assist with:

Donation pickups in the Lady Lake area
Processing and organizing donations
Moving inventory within the store, grounds, and storage areas

🐱 Additional duties may include:

Transporting cats to medical appointments and adoption events
Assisting at the Lady Lake PetSmart adoption center during vacations, illness coverage, or major adoption events
Requirements

✔ Clear driver’s license
✔ Pass background check
✔ Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
✔ Ability to repeatedly lift 30–40 lbs
✔ Dependable, organized, and comfortable working independently
