🚧‼️Building Update and Handy Volunteer Assistance Requested! ‼️🚧

We already have our first birds in the building! Well... not intentionally. They welcomed themselves in and made a nest in our insulation... how did we not notice! 🪺🐦 (P.S... the nest was moved outside and the egg wasnt fertile 🥰)

On a different note, we have completed the insulation installation and majority of the wiring, and have commenced constructing the walls! 🤩 We aim to finalize the walls, ceiling, and flooring by this Saturday but require additional support. As Helping Parrots was founded by two teenage girls with a passion, while we are striving to do our best, we cannot accomplish everything independently. And so, we are asking YOU for help! If anyone is able to come out Saturday morning, around 8am, to help out please reach out via our Facebook messenger. Thank you! 🦜💚

💛🏵 Meet Casey 🏵💛

Casey is a Yellow Naped Amazon who is around 60 years old. She has been with her old owner for almost her whole life! She is a sweet bird with lots of personality. She allows us to scratch her head through the bars and will step up, but you may need a band aid...

Casey does very well with women and is very vocal! As much as she is a sweet bird, she will bite if over stimulated. We do think Casey would do best with an owner who is experienced with medium-bird species and knows how to take a bite. Casey is not fond of other birds and is a toe biter. We do not think Casey will do well in a home with children as she isn't the gentlest bird.

Casey has a fear of men so we do require her primary caretaker to be a female and if there is a man in the house, we request he would would be willing to interact with her to help her get over her fear.

She tested negative for Polyoma, Pacheos, ABV, PBFD, and Chlamydia. She is currently transitioning from previous seed diet onto pellets, and it’s going well!

Casey must stay fully flighted and will be adopted out with an adoption contract through the rescue.

💚🍨 Meet Mochi 🍨💚

Mochi is a 2-year-old Quaker parrot looking for a forever home where she can thrive. She's intelligent, social, and loves interacting with her caregivers. Mochi is cage-protective and may not be suitable for homes with small children or curious hands. She requires a patient and experienced owner who can help her build trust, as she has a history of defensive behavior.

Mochi gets along well with other birds and has quickly learned step-up and target training. She's currently on a Roudybush diet and her adopter must allow her to grow out her feathers and encourage her to fly.

She is flock-tested negative for Polyoma, Pacheos, ABV, PBFD, and Chlamydia.

Mochi will be adopted out with an adoption contract through the rescue to ensure she stays safe and cared for.

Our adoption process is fairly straightforward:

1. Submit an adoption application.
2. If approved, we schedule a meet-and-greet to allow you to interact with the bird and see if you’re a good match. Some birds will require multiple visits.
3. If all goes well, we conduct a home check (which can often be done on the same day as bringing the bird to you for adoption).
4. Finally, you’ll sign an adoption application, and then you’re all set!

Depending on your distance from us, we are flexible with our process, but this is our base.

Helping Parrots is run by a small, 2-person team driven by our passion for helping parrots in need. Recently, we've been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and interest in adopting and fostering.

We're deeply sorry if we've missed your messages or haven't been able to respond as quickly as we'd like. Please know that we appreciate your patience and understanding.

🎉 Lacey Has Found Her Forever Home! 🎉

We’re so happy to share that Lacey, our sweet 25-year-old cockatiel, has officially found her perfect retirement home!

🍍💛 Meet Bean! 💛🍍

Bean is a pineapple green cheek conure who is
3-4 years old. He is a bit skittish but is slowly
learning to trust people. With time and
patience, he's sure to come around!

He is previously bonded and with his mate they
had bird aggressive tendencies. However, he
has not displayed them since being solo. We
do believe since he was previously bonded that
he would thrive with a green cheek conure
friend.

He has been flock tested negative for ABV,
PBFD, Polyoma, Pacheco's, and chlamydia. He
is fully flighted and must remain that way. His
current diet consists of Roudybush pellets,
which he loves! He will be adopted with a
contract to ensure his safety and well-being

🚨 FOSTER HOMES NEEDED! 🚨

Helping Parrots is in desperate need of foster homes for parrots! We have birds waiting for a safe place to land, but have to no space to hold them.

Can you open your home to a parrot in need?
Fostering is temporary, and we provide cage, cage setup, food, vet care and support, you just give them love and safety for the time they are with you.

We are at full capacity, and without fosters, we can’t take in more birds who need help. If you’ve ever thought about fostering, please reach out!

We are based in Ocala FL, but have fosters all around central florida!

Helping Parrots visited Wing In The Sun bird club in Ocala, Fl! Eddie, Chicken, Spider-man, and Lacey got to meet everyone there. The club focuses on education and is a wonderful place for people of all ages. If you love parrots and are in or near Ocala, Fl, check them out!

🐕🤍Meet Scooby-Doo! 🤍🐕

Scooby-doo is an ~4 year old white-faced pearl pied cockatiel and is incredibly vocal, delighting everyone with the silly way he says his name, kissy noises, and other adorable sounds!

Scooby-Doo was surrendered to us after his owner's passing. Despite this, he's eager to find a new forever home where he can thrive. He is a skittish bird who is not afraid to bite so he will need a home who is willing to work with him or a home with an aviary. Scooby-Doo does require a home with other cockatiels. He is currently on a seed mix diet, so he will require a diet conversion. He has been flock-tested negative for PBFD, Avian Borna Virus, Chlamydia, Pachecos, and Polyoma.

Scooby-Doo is looking for a home with an aviary-type setup or someone who is willing to put alot of work into him. He must be kept fully flighted and will be adopted out with an adoption contract through the rescue. Located in Ocala, FL.
