What is Stenotic Nares Repair?
A veterinary procedure that can greatly improve airflow/breathing and quality of life for breeds with Brachycephalic Airway Syndrome (BAS).

Brachycephalic Airway Syndrome (BAS) refers to a group of abnormalities that result in upper airway obstruction. Primary abnormalities such as Stenotic Nares cause an increase in negative pressure within the upper airways that can eventually lead to secondary abnormalities such as Layngeal and Tracheal Collapse, Pharyngeal and Soft Palate Edema, Everted Tonsils, and Everted Laryngeal Saccules.

Our patients receiving this procedure often notice immediate breathing improvement! 🎉
Best results when performed by 3-4 months of age, but still beneficial at any age!

Contact us for an appointment to discuss how your pet may benefit from this procedure!

🍂 Happy First Day of Fall! 🍁

As the leaves change and the air gets crisp, it’s a great time to enjoy the season with your furry friends. But fall also brings a few seasonal risks for pets — here are some important reminders to keep them safe:

🐾 Beware of Corn Cobs
While corn itself isn’t toxic, corn cobs can be dangerous if chewed or swallowed. They can cause serious blockages in your pet’s digestive system — often requiring surgery.

🍄 Watch Out for Wild Mushrooms
Fall is prime mushroom season. Although most are harmless, some wild mushrooms are highly toxic and even a small amount can lead to liver failure or death in pets. If you’re not 100% sure it’s safe, don’t let your pet near it.

🐍 Snakes on the Move
As temperatures drop, snakes start preparing for hibernation — and they’re more likely to be out and about. This increases the risk of bites, especially if your pet likes to explore wooded areas or tall grass.

📌 Fall Safety Tip: Keep your pet leashed during hikes, clean up yard waste like fallen fruit and mushrooms, and stay vigilant for any signs of illness or injury.

Wishing you and your pet a safe and cozy autumn! 🍂🐶🐱

Is your pet obese?

*Pets with obesity are at increased risk for developing serious weight-related disorders such as diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure, kidney disease, cancer, and more.

*Please use the tools below to check your pet’s Body Condition Score. If it leans on the overweight side, reach out to get a proper weight loss treatment plan with your vet!

1. Feel your pet’s body. You should easily feel and count your pet’s ribs when you gently run your fingers along their side. A healthy-weight pet will have a thin layer of fat over the ribs and spine that you can feel but not see. If you feel a thick layer of fat, your pet may be overweight.

2. Look at your pet from above. Stand over your pet and observe its body. Your pet should have a visible waist behind the ribs that tapers slightly towards the hips with a slight indentation near the midsection. If your pet does not have a visible waist or has a bulging waist, it may be overweight.

3. Look at your pet from the side. Stand next to your pet and examine its profile as it stands naturally. You should see a slight tuck or upward slope in the tummy area. If the abdomen hangs low and appears bulging or sagging, it could indicate the presence of abdominal fat, which is the most dangerous and biologically active form of fat.

4. Check your pet’s weight. Regularly weigh your pet and track its weight over time. This practice can help you and your veterinary team monitor your pet’s weight and determine if any adjustments are needed in their lifestyle, diet, or exercise routine.
