😴🐱 Ever wonder why your cat sleeps so much? 💤

Cats are true pros at napping - and for good reason!
On average, a healthy adult cat sleeps 12 to 16 hours a day. Some can even snooze up to 20 hours (especially kittens and seniors).

Why so much sleep?
– They’re conserving energy - even if they only “hunt” cat toys now
– Cats are most active at dawn and dusk (they’re crepuscular!)
– Napping is part of their natural rhythm, and helps them stay sharp when they are awake

💤 So if your cat has found yet another cozy spot for their 7th nap of the day… just let them be. They’re living their best life.

Have a favorite cat nap photo? Share it with us – we never get tired of sleepy kitty pics. 🖤

🍽️🐾 Looking for a Healthy Snack to Boost Your Pet’s Weight Loss?

Adding a little something extra to your pet’s kibble can make mealtime more exciting AND support their weight loss goals at the same time!

Try these tasty, low-calorie snacks:
🥕 Tiny bites of carrots
🥦 A few steamed green beans
🍎 Small apple slices (no seeds!)
🎃 A spoonful of plain pumpkin puree
🥒 Cool cucumber slices
🍗 A little cooked, skinless chicken (no seasonings)

Remember: Always introduce new foods gradually and in moderation. Avoid anything toxic like onions, grapes, or anything with added salt or seasoning.

Just a yummy snack here and there – nothing too much! Always introduce new treats slowly and keep it balanced.

Need help with your pet’s weight plan? We’re here for you!

📸 Selfie Shot of the Week 🐾

Meet Dr. Torres - but at home, they just call him Doctor! 🩺

His favorite activity?
Practicing his vocal range all over the house - operatic meows included. 🎤

The weirdest thing he does...
Goes completely limp when picked up, like a little dramatic noodle. 😹

We never get tired of these quirky pet personalities - keep them coming!

🐾 International Homeless Animals’ Day – August 18
Last month, we were blown away by the generosity shown during our Christmas in July donation drive. 🎄

Today is International Homeless Animals’ Day, a global reminder of the millions of dogs and cats without homes and the small, powerful ways we can help:

🛏️ Donate to your favorite shelter – food, toys, blankets, or supplies
📢 Share adoptable pet profiles to help them find forever homes
🐾 Foster or adopt if you’re ready to expand your family
✂️ Spay & neuter to help prevent overcrowding in shelters and reduce health risks

Even if you can't take in a pet, there’s always a way to help and your support matters.

If you’d like to continue the spirit of giving, we’re happy to connect you with local shelters and their current needs. Let’s keep the momentum going!

🌊🐶 Is That Water Safe for Your Dog?

A quick splash or sip from a creek or pond might seem harmless – but it could put your pet at serious risk.

Blue-green algae (also called cyanobacteria) can grow in still or slow-moving water during the warmer months, and even a small amount can be toxic – or fatal – to dogs.

⚠️ Things to watch for:
– Murky, scummy, or bright green water
– Water with a paint-like film or foam on the surface
– Dead fish or wildlife nearby
– A strange smell (often musty or swampy)

Signs of blue-green algae poisoning can appear within minutes to hours, and may include:
– Vomiting
– Seizures
– Weakness or collapse
– Drooling
– Trouble breathing

🐾 Better safe than sorry:
– Bring water for your dog when hiking or playing outdoors
– Don’t let pets swim or drink from unfamiliar or stagnant water
– Rinse your dog off if they get into questionable water
– Call us (or your nearest emergency clinic) immediately if you suspect exposure

Let’s keep summer fun – and safe – for everyone, paws included. 🐾❤️

📍🐾 Check the Chip Day – August 15 🐾📍
Could your pet find their way home?

According to the American Humane Association:

🔸 1 in 3 pets will become lost in their lifetime
🔸 Around 10 million dogs and cats are lost or stolen every year in the U.S.
🔸 Over 94% of lost pets with a microchip are successfully reunited
🔸 BUT - outdated contact info can make the chip useless 😿

➡️ If we have a microchip number on file for your pet, you’ll find it in your app under “My Pets” in the "About" section.
➡️ Not sure where your pet’s chip is registered? Use the Universal Microchip Lookup Tool to find out. 👉 https://www.petmicrochiplookup.org/

💡 A microchip only works if your contact info is kept current!

Thinking about microchipping your pet? It’s quick, safe, and could save their life.
📅 Schedule an appointment through our app today!

🐱🏡 Indoor Cats, Happy Lives!

Last week, we talked about the risks of letting cats roam outdoors — so this week, let’s focus on all the fun and enriching ways to keep your indoor cat healthy, stimulated, and content!

🧠 Mental Stimulation:
– Window perches for bird-watching
– Cat trees and shelves for climbing
– Puzzle feeders and treat toys

🐾 Physical Play:
– Wand toys and laser pointers for chasing
– Balls, springs, and interactive toys
– Rotate toys weekly to keep things exciting

🌿 Natural Instincts:
– Cat-safe plants like catnip or cat grass
– Scratching posts (vertical and horizontal)
– Cardboard boxes and paper bags = pure joy

💤 Comfy Spots:
– Sunny napping zones
– Hidey-holes for quiet time
– Cozy blankets or heated beds

A well-stimulated indoor cat is often healthier, safer, and just as happy as their outdoor counterparts – maybe even happier (with fewer fleas)!
