As temperatures climb, it’s important to keep a close eye on your furry family members. Dogs are especially vulnerable to heatstroke, which can happen quickly and be life-threatening.
Here are some warning signs of heatstroke in dogs to watch for:

🔴 Early Signs:

🐾 Glazed or fixed eyes

🐾 Sudden behavior changes (snapping, growling, confusion)

🐾 Stumbling or walking in circles

⚠️ Advanced Symptoms:

🐾 Continuous, heavy panting

🐾 Dark red or pale gums

🐾 Thick, sticky saliva or excessive drooling

🐾 Vomiting or diarrhea

🐾 Collapse or unresponsiveness

🐾 Increased heart rate

🐾 Muscle tremors

💡 What to Do Immediately:

1. Move your dog to a cool, shady, or air-conditioned area

2. Cool with room temperature water – avoid ice or very cold water

3. Use a fan to improve air circulation

4. Monitor closely – if signs don’t improve within 10–15 minutes, seek emergency veterinary care

🚨 Brachycephalic breeds (Bulldogs, Frenchies, Pugs, Boston Terriers, Shih Tzus, etc.) are TWICE as likely to suffer heatstroke – take extra precautions.

💧 Always provide shade, water, and never leave your dog in a hot car (even with windows cracked — it can be deadly in minutes).

🐕‍🦺 Avoid midday walks – stick to early morning or evening when it’s cooler.

🎾 Limit exercise, even if they seem eager — overheating can happen fast.
