🐾❤️ From Mitochondria to Cytoplasma: A Story of Survival, Second Chances, and Finding Where You Belong.❤️🐾
If you've been following us for a while, chances are you remember a dog named Mitochondria.
She was the girl who captured the hearts of an entire community when she ran away from her adopters and spent seven long days on the run. For seven days, people watched, worried, searched, shared sightings, and hoped she would make it back safely. And finally, after a whole lot of patience and determination, we were able to capture her.
But Mitochondria's story actually started long before those seven days.
Ten months ago, she came to us with seven of the tiniest babies you could imagine. A scared mama and seven little lives, all just trying to survive. They didn't know what safety felt like. They didn't know that their lives were about to change. They just knew they had each other.
Over time, those tiny babies grew. They learned, they blossomed, and one by one, they found families of their own.
But one of those babies has found his way back to us. His name is Cytoplasma.💙
Cytoplasma was adopted, but unfortunately, his adoption didn't work out, and he was returned.
And here's what we want people to understand: Not every dog experiences the world the same way. Not every dog shows fear the same way. And not every dog fits into every home.
Since his return, we've taken the time to have Cytoplasma evaluated so we could better understand his behaviors, his fears, and what he needs to be successful in his next home.
What we've learned is that Cytoplasma is a sensitive, somewhat skittish boy who needs people willing to listen to what he's telling them.
And believe us, he communicates.
When Cytoplasma is uncomfortable, he gives cues. He tries to tell you when he's nervous, when he needs space, and when something is just too much for him. He deserves a family that recognizes those signals and respects them instead of expecting him to simply tolerate situations that make him afraid.
🐕 We believe Cytoplasma would do wonderfully with other dogs. In fact, we think he might actually prefer a home with a canine companion. Another dog could offer him comfort, confidence, and companionship as he continues learning that the world isn't such a scary place.
👧 Children are a different story. Cytoplasma isn't particularly comfortable around kids, so we feel his best chance at success would be in a home without children. We would only consider a home with children if they genuinely understand canine body language, respect boundaries, and know when to give a dog space.
Cytoplasma doesn't need someone to force him to be brave. He needs someone who will help him feel safe enough to become brave on his own. He doesn't need a family that expects perfection. He needs a family that understands patience, trust, and the beauty of watching a scared dog slowly let his guard down.
When we think back to Mitochondria and those seven tiny babies who came to us ten months ago, we remember how hard they fought just to get a chance at life.
Cytoplasma fought for that chance, too. And now we're asking our community to help us give him the happy ending he still deserves.
His first adoption wasn't his forever. That doesn't mean his forever isn't out there.
