Don’t be a victim to your own mind and expectations.
Sometimes the stress and upset that we feel about our dogs comes from our own expectations and projections. We’re dropping that mindset in 2026.

I get it! You don’t have 30 minutes to carve out for training. 5 is better than 0. One rep is better than none. Sometimes starting is the hardest part. Work it in to what you’re already doing so it doesn’t feel so hard.

You can wish things were different while also loving and doing the absolute best and most for them. Some days are harder than others. Save this for when you need the reminder on those days. You’re doing great.

And if my heart were a dog, it’d be Gypsy. I actually got Gypsy with my mom when I still lived with her. She was my first dog as a professional dog trainer. Which meant I had the best relationship with her that I’ve ever had with a dog. And she carried me through the loss of my mom, truthfully. Gypsy loved other dogs. She loved to work. And I took her everywhere with me. She’s 11 now and physically not slowing down at all yet. She doesn’t tolerate other dogs the way she used to and I can tell Francois wants to pick more fights with her these days so I take extra steps to protect her peace. She gets away with a lot that she didn’t used to because honestly? She’s earned it.
Tell me about your heart dog!

This is Francois, my problem child. Some dogs are a work in progress, and he's the ultimate project. As a puppy, I knew he'd be a handful, but six years in, I've come to accept that some temperaments can't be changed, just managed. Francois resource guards, especially his space, and can be unpredictable around kids and other dogs. I carve out dedicated time for him in my day to keep everyone safe. My account's about the realities of dog ownership and the love that comes with managing the hard stuff. Have you ever known a dog like Francois?
