TIGGER’S GOTCHA DAY MIRACLE Adopted August 1 | Celebrated Every Day
Two years ago, I met Tigger as a fragile 12-week-old puppy with mange, kennel cough, and a cancerous throat mass. His prognosis? 4–6 months. The shelter planned to say goodbye.
But I couldn’t let that be his ending.
So I gave him a home, and Tigger gave the world proof that love, time, and a second chance can change everything.
Today, he’s strong, goofy, thriving and still here, over 2 years later.
Today is not only his Gotcha Day it’s also DOGust 1st, the universal birthday for shelter dogs.
So we’re throwing a party for every rescue pup out there.
Because every dog deserves a birthday, a family, and a future.

A little about me, the trainer, walker, sitter extraordinaire .....
No bull about it, I love my dogs, well really I love all dogs and all dogs are lovable with the right RESPPPECT (my training methodology)
I spent 14 years in corporate retail until I finally decided to follow my passion for animal training and rescue; however, my deepest desire is to help others obtain the same loving and respectful relationship as I have with my own dogs. Please note, they didn’t all start out like the angels they are today!!
I rescued my first red nose American Staffordshire Terrier, Nala, when I was 24. Quite a leap since I never had a pet growing up but there was something about her that drew me to her in addition to heavy input from my roommate, I’m sure you know the feeling. She was about a year old, had been mistreated in some way, didn’t know how to walk on a leash and was afraid of her own shadow. She was also my first experience with dog training and I was hooked. I ended up taking her all the way through advanced agility, which was a feat given her lack of confidence when I first got her. She’s an old lady now but bosses all of my fosters around.
About a year later, by way of a family member, I ended up with my #2 gal, a Lhasa Apso/Mini Poodle mix named Stella. Quite a divesture from Nala but these two were inseparable and I got used to the idea of having a lap dog; however, in my house, just because you’re small doesn’t mean you don’t have to work and behave. I did all of her training myself, even taught her to dance!
Fast forward 8 years of harmonious companionship with the “Pittie & the Poo” as I so lovingly call them, I decided I wanted to start giving back to the animal community and began fostering with Canine Cupids, a charity organization that pulled dogs out of animal control. As of 2018, I have fostered and rehomed 12 dogs in Wisconsin and medically rehabilitated 11 through the Arizona Humane Society.
So now the million dollar question everyone always asks, how do you foster and give them back??? Well to me, getting these dogs out of a shelter, healthy, socialized, and into the arms of a loving family is the most rewarding feeling, and then there were the two I couldn’t let go and stayed with me. They are officially my foster failures (with the failure being they stayed with me) Baloo is my big head blue nose American Pit Bull Terrier took my breath away the first time I saw. He has been an interesting training journey as he was an angel until I signed his adoption papers. I used to call him the Tasmanian devil due to his leash aggression, but after a lot of work and training, I’m proud to say he passed round one of the Canine Good Citizen.
The second foster failure came to me after surviving parvo but also had a fractured lower vertebrae and was unable to walk on all fours. After some time and TLC, he was able to regain normal ambulation but due to an uncertain future, he was to be put down, and naturally I couldn't allow that so that is how I ended up with number 4, Simba, a fawn and blue American Staffie/Pit Bull.
As I said, I love dogs and I have seen my fair share of issues from severe emaciation to tick fever, from resource guarding to potty training. While many trainers will tell you about certifications or belonging to dog related membership, I believe none of that compares to hands on experience, which I have a lot of. I sincerely hope you find my history interesting and see the value I can bring to not only you and your family, but also to your furbabies.
