***Behavior Modification***
As a dog trainer, a big part of what I do is not just working with dogs but educating their owners. As pet parents we might have the best intentions in the world, while unintentionally creating bad habits.
This is why I take the time to carefully explain my holistic approach to behavior modification. We have to understand the root cause of the issues at hand, before just simply putting a leash on and working that dog.
I tell my clients allllll the time, “beyond the commands the dog learns in the obedience program. The main take away is the open line of communication.” Once you establish that line of communication through your obedience rapport, you can now effectively correct behavior problems moving forward.
It’s all about setting our dogs up for success at the end of the day. Creating appropriate boundaries when needed and providing guidance/structure so our dogs learn that there’s consequences for unwanted behaviors.
