At Napa Humane, we believe that just like preventive veterinary care protects pets, thoughtful planning protects the people and causes closest to your heart.

This National Make-A-Will Month, create or update your will for free with 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞𝗪𝐢𝐥𝐥 — it takes about 20 minutes. You’ll also have the option to leave a legacy gift to Napa Humane, helping ensure local pets have access to care for generations to come.

✨ Check the Chip Day Reminder! ✨

Recently, we got to witness the magic of a microchip reunion ❤️

A community cat trapper in American Canyon brought in a big, sweet kitty who had been showing up at her home for the past two weeks—skinny, hungry, and in need of care. She kept him safe until she could bring him in for a neuter appointment.

When we scanned him, beep!—a microchip! We called the owner and learned his name is Dennis… and he had been missing from Vallejo for nearly two years—over 10 miles away! His family thought he was gone forever 💔

Instead, thanks to that tiny chip, Dennis is now back home with the people who love him and never stopped wondering what happened to him.

Microchips work. Please make sure your pets are chipped and that your contact info is up to date—it could be the reason your lost pet makes it home. 🐾 Napa Humane offers microchips at our Friday drop in vaccine clinics and through our Preventive Care Clinic.

🐾 Meet Sophie! 🐾

This sweet boy from the Napa County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center recently visited Napa Humane for his neuter — and we’re thrilled to share that he’s already been adopted (and yes Sophie is a boy)! 💕

In addition to providing low-cost, high-quality spay/neuter services for the public, we also partner with NCAS to provide these surgeries for their shelter pets. This helps:
✨ Reduce their length of stay, so they can find loving homes faster
✨ Save NCAS money, allowing them to help even more animals
✨ Give pets like Sophie the best start in their new forever families

Local pets. Local programs. Local impact. 🐱💛

🐾 Today we say farewell to Dr. Amanda Vance on her last day at Napa Humane 🐾

During her time with us, Dr. Vance has made an extraordinary impact on the lives of animals in our community. She estimates she’s performed over 45,000 spay/neuter surgeries—helping prevent countless unwanted litters and improving the health of thousands of pets.

She also launched our partnership program with Napa County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center working to reduce the length of stay for shelter animals and save the shelter money by providing in-house veterinary care. Thanks to her updated protocols, there hasn’t been a single URI outbreak at the Shelter this kitten season—a huge win for the animals’ health and well-being.

Dr. Vance got our Preventive Care Clinic off the ground, and while doing all this incredible work, she’s been pursuing a Master’s in Epidemiology from Kent State, driven by her passion for disease control.

We are so grateful for her dedication, skill, and heart—and we know she will continue to make a difference wherever her journey takes her. 💛 Thank you Dr. Vance for everything!
