🐾 We meet a lot of amazing animals at Napa Humane… but little Kimchi truly stole the spotlight.

While being fostered for Napa County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center by our Executive Director, Wendi, Kimchi quickly became everyone’s favorite break-time buddy — helping staff decompress with plenty of playtime, snuggles, and puppy antics.

Tiny but full of sass, Kimchi’s personality was larger than life, and it didn’t take long for him to win over the entire team. When he came in for his neuter appointment, we were all asking the same question: “How has this puppy not been adopted yet?!”

Well, we’re happy to report that Kimchi has officially found his forever home. 🧡

As we continue exploring Napa Humane’s 2025 community impact, this number represents thousands of pets receiving preventive care that helps keep them healthy, protected, and with the families who love them.

Vaccines are one of the simplest and most effective ways to prevent illness before it becomes a larger medical crisis — for both pets and the broader community.

🐾 Napa County is fortunate to have so many people and organizations working together to support animals in our community.

At Napa Humane, we’re proud to provide affordable spay/neuter services, preventive care, and shelter medicine support to Napa County Animal Shelter as part of our shared commitment to animal welfare in Napa County.

Right now, our friends at Napa County Animal Shelter — the county’s animal sheltering agency — are in urgent need of community support.

The shelter is currently at capacity for dogs and is seeking:

🏡 Foster homes
🤝 Rescue partners with available space

Supporting shelters and rescues is an important part of creating better outcomes for animals across our community, and right now, even small actions can make a meaningful difference.

🐾 Turns out the Napa Humane team doesn’t always stop at Friday… sometimes we sneak in a Caturday!

If you happened to peek through our windows on a recent Saturday, this is what you would have seen: carriers filling the waiting room as our team worked to support Pope Valley Animal Rescue PVAR during a special community cat spay/neuter day at Napa Humane.

Together, the team helped spay and neuter 17 community cats and 1 dog — including 12 female cats, helping prevent future litters before they begin.

This is what prevention looks like:
people coming together, giving their time, and acting before shelters and rescues become overwhelmed. 🧡

In observance of Memorial Day, Napa Humane will be closed on Monday, May 25. Our clinic and offices will reopen with normal business hours on Tuesday, May 26.

🐾 In 2025, 381 pets received care through Napa Humane’s Preventive Care Clinic. Launched in June 2025, the Preventive Care Clinic was created to help make veterinary care more accessible through wellness exams, vaccines, and early treatment focused on prevention.

This number represents more than appointments — it reflects pets receiving care before small concerns become bigger problems, and families gaining access to affordable veterinary support close to home.

The future of veterinary medicine starts with investing in people.

Across the country, communities are facing a growing shortage of veterinarians and veterinary technicians — making it harder for pets and the people who love them to access timely care.

𝐀𝐭 𝐍𝐚𝐩𝐚 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐞, 𝐰𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐯𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐞.

That’s why we created the Dr. Rick Bachman Memorial Veterinary Medicine Scholarship, supporting students pursuing careers in companion animal veterinary medicine and RVT certification.

Managed through Napa Valley Community Foundation, the scholarship supports current or former residents of Napa, Solano, and Lake counties who are committed to giving back to their communities through veterinary care.
