Our friends at Etude W**es are hosting a Howl-O-Ween Yappy Hour this Saturday, October 31, and they're including Napa Humane in the festivities! Enjoy an afternoon of Halloween fun featuring a pet costume parade and contest, w**e and food specials, and treats for your pup!

Etude will also be collecting pet food and supplies to support Napa Humane's community programs. What a fun way to celebrate Halloween while giving back to local pets! 🧡

Through our partnership with Napa County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center Napa Humane provides spay and neuter surgeries for shelter animals preparing for adoption. It's one more way our Power of Prevention helps animals throughout our community!

And sometimes, those shelter pets find their way into the hearts of our own team members. 🧡

Just ask Jeni, Napa Humane's Lead Registered Veterinary Technician. Over the years, she's helped care for countless shelter animals coming through our clinic. But a few special patients made such an impression that she ended up bringing them home!

Today, four of the five pets in Jeni's family were adopted from Napa County Animal Shelter after receiving their spay or neuter surgeries at Napa Humane.

From two kittens who found a home together to a timid young dog who found a loving family, their stories are a wonderful reminder of how our community's animal welfare organizations work together to give pets a brighter future.

Together, we did it! Thanks to our incredible community, Napa Humane has reached our 2026 fundraising goal to support all 𝟐𝟒𝟔 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐞𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐲!🐾

Whether you made a donation, attended a fundraiser, or helped spread the word, you played a part in making this possible.

Behind every surgery day are pets and people whose lives are changed by access to affordable care. Families who can get their pets spayed or neutered. Shelter animals taking the next step toward adoption. Community cats who will no longer face litter after litter outdoors.

Keeping these essential services affordable takes more than the fees clients pay. Your generosity helps bridge that gap, making prevention possible for more animals throughout Napa County.

𝗪𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭? On November 1, we'll begin fundraising for our 2027 surgery days, with a new goal that more fully reflects the cost of providing an entire year of affordable spay and neuter services. We'll share more about that next chapter soon!

But today, we're celebrating what we've accomplished together.

🐾 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐝𝐨𝐠𝐬, 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲!🧡

What a fun afternoon this past Saturday was! From adorable costumes to happy pups and plenty of laughs, we loved celebrating with our Napa Humane dog training community.

One of our favorite things about our dog training programs is the community that comes with them. There's something special about bringing together people who share a love for their dogs, want to learn together, and understand that every pup is on their own journey.

Whether this was your very first Napa Humane event or you and your pup are familiar faces, thank you for being part of it! To our newcomers, we hope you felt the warm welcome and will join us again soon. And to our regulars, thank you for helping make this community such a welcoming place.

We believe everything is better with a little community, especially when that community includes a whole lot of dogs! 🐶

🎃 Halloween is fun for us, but what about our pets?

Costumes, doorbells, decorations, and a steady stream of trick-or-treaters might be part of the fun for us, but for our four-legged family members, Halloween can be a little overwhelming!

A few simple precautions can help keep everyone safe and comfortable:
🍫 Keep candy and treats out of reach, especially chocolate and anything containing xylitol.
🐾 Give nervous pets a quiet, comfortable space away from the excitement.
🚪 Double-check ID tags and microchip information in case a frightened pet slips out the door.

We've designed the event with dogs in mind, with small groups of just 4–6 dogs at a time so everyone has room to explore. We even have a special time slot for dogs who need a little extra space from other dogs!

And costumes? Completely optional! Whether your dog loves dressing up or prefers to come as they are, everyone is welcome. 🐾

Halloween is almost here! While we may love the costumes, decorations, and trick-or-treaters, all that excitement can be overwhelming for our dogs.

Did you know that dogs often communicate discomfort long before they bark or growl?

Turning their head away, licking their lips, yawning, or trying to move away can all be subtle signs that a dog is feeling stressed.

When we recognize these signals, we can respond with understanding instead of frustration and help prevent small concerns from becoming bigger problems.
