TW: graphic image of eye in third and fourth pictures.

Time for an update on Luna, the little lop girl with the corneal ulcers. Since her procedure a couple months ago, she has been back to the ophthalmologist twice. We tried contacts (yes contacts) in her eyes to make her more comfortable, but it didn't work. Dr. Zarfoss is nevertheless happy with the progress. On the second visit she decided to trim some of the corneal glue that may have been bothering her. Luna still needs eye drops daily and I am very grateful for the wonderful care she is receiving in her foster home. She is booked for a recheck at the vet in August. Fingers crossed she is almost healed.

Bagel and Cream Cheese are 10 months old lionhead siblings who do everything together! We rescued them as 4 to 6 week old babies from a backyard in Fairfield. They are really sweet and mellow with good litterbox habits. The pair would do best in a quiet household with adults only or older kids.
Bagel and Cream Cheese are neutered/spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated against RHDV2.

Who remembers Alexis and David (formerly known as Audrey and Rex)? These two are living their best lives and recently relocated to SoCal with their guardian.

"I am moving and I can't take my bunny with me" is the number two reason of surrender requests we get; that's approximately 150 requests a year of people who are relocating and want to leave their rabbits behind. We understand that there are special circumstances, but please take your companion animals into account when you have to move.

Today we said goodbye to Pearl. She passed away unexpectedly in the night. She was 7 years old and one of the original Napa Bunnies from the colony. She was healthy as far as we knew so we are sending her body to UC Davis for a necropsy.
Pearl was social on her terms and we are grateful that our volunteer Sara's grandmother had opened up her home to Pearl and her bonded friend of 7 years Jasper. We will keep a close eye on Jasper as they had a strong bond.

Today I drove to SFO to pick up Lolo. She was adopted from us in March 2024. Her guardian moved from the Napa area to Southern California, and she is now moving to Hong Kong and unable to bring Lolo. Her guardian contacted us a few months ago to let us know about her upcoming move. We were not comfortable with having Lolo surrendered to a local shelter or rescue and asked that she be returned to us as stipulated in our adoption agreement. Her guardian opted for a quick one hour flight with Alaska Airlines since they allow rabbits to fly in the cabin. It was very easy and it's really disappointing that other airlines Delta Air Lines American Airlines United won't let rabbits fly in the cabin!
Lolo wants to thank Alaska Airlines for not considering her as a piece of luggage that belongs in cargo and letting her be comfortable in the cabin with her human.

Is your bunny tired of the same old greens? If you have a pesticide free yard, there are a few things you may find to make a less boring salad. Dandy is a big fan of anything fragrant so mint, lavender, calendula, raspberry leaves, rose petals and dandelions are real treats for him. What do you feed?

Can we talk about rabbit welfare and the growing trend of social media bunny influencers and bunny cafes?
Rabbits are prey animals and creatures of habit. They like a known environment and have their daily routine. Even rearranging their things or entering their space can be upsetting to them.
So, when we see dressed-up rabbits in unnatural scenarios on social media it makes our blood boil! Some people just think itโ€™s cute and donโ€™t realize they are doing any harm, but some do it to promote their brand or products with little to no regards to what's actually in the best interest of the animals when it obviously goes completely against their natural instincts and needs. Some of these influencers have huge followings and make money every time you like, comment and share their posts and by doing so you help normalize what isn't and should never be! We work hard advocating for rabbits and do not condone any form of animal exploitation!
It is never OK to dress up your rabbits and tote them around like they are accessories. It can make them feel uncomfortable, stress them out or be downright dangerous. Leashes, harnesses, backpacks are also not appropriate. So please ditch the outfits and leave your bunnies at home!
