🐾 Happy Update: Reed’s Recovery 🐾

Three weeks ago, Reed came to us with a devastating injury—a large hole in his neck caused by a condition called Strangles. Despite his pain, Reed’s gentle spirit shone through, and with your support, we were able to give him the urgent medical care he needed.

On August 6th, Reed underwent surgery to remove the damaged tissue and close his wound. We’re thrilled to share that his mom recently reported his appetite and energy are back in full force! 🎉 Soon, Reed will get his stitches out—and he’ll be as good as new.

Your generosity made this second chance possible for Reed. Thank you for being part of his healing journey. ❤️

Help Us Save Theodore!

Theodore came to us in heartbreaking condition after years of severe neglect. His former owners were convinced to surrender him, and thanks to our strong partnership with our local animal control officer, we were able to ensure no other animals were left behind in that home. She made it clear to the owners that she’ll be checking back, and that animal cruelty charges could be pursued if they ever try to own another animal again.

When Theodore arrived, he was suffering immensely:
• His nails were painfully overgrown.
• He had never been given heartworm prevention and is now heartworm positive.
• His skin was scaly, flaking, and infected—likely the result of a severe flea infestation that caused a staph infection.
• His teeth are badly infected, and he is in urgent need of a dental.
• He is only 4 years old but has already lost much of his fur.

Despite everything he has endured, Theodore is slowly beginning to trust again. One of our dedicated staff members is fostering him and giving him the love and care he’s been denied for so long.

Now, Theodore needs your help. His recovery will be long, costly, and intensive—but with your support, we can give him the second chance he deserves.

💙 Please donate today to help Theodore heal.

“I'm a volunteer and Hal is an absolute sweetheart! I was with him at a recent Wright Way event and he was very sweet and good with other dogs, people, and was good with the kids at the event! If anyone is looking for a sweet pup, please go meet Hal!”

Centimeters From Paralysis—Meet Virgo♍️

Virgo was brought to us by animal control, dragging her back legs—yet still purring and asking for love.

At first, we assumed she had been hit by a car. But one X-ray revealed the heartbreaking truth: someone shot her. 💔

A bullet is lodged dangerously close to her spine. By only a few centimeters, she avoided permanent paralysis. With time, love, and care, Virgo may still walk again.

This 6-month-old kitten is full of hope and deserves her second chance.

✨ Can you help us provide Virgo with the rehabilitation she needs? Your gift today ensures she gets the chance to heal and thrive.

Together, we can show Virgo that compassion will always outweigh cruelty. ❤️

🐾 Happy Update: Junior’s Big Surprise! 🐾

We have some amazing news about Junior, the young cat who came to us with a subluxation in his elbow and no use of his front leg.

Last week, Junior was scheduled for an amputation. As part of the prep, our veterinary team took X-rays to confirm the condition of his leg. Much to everyone’s surprise—the results showed signs of healing! His bone is growing stronger, and the elbow is stabilizing.

During his exam, Junior even showed off his progress by making biscuits with his “bad” leg, and the bend in his arm is beginning to return. Because of this incredible improvement, we cancelled his amputation and are giving him more time to heal, with high hopes he’ll regain most of the use of his leg.

Junior is now available for adoption and will be ready to join his forever home soon. If you’d like to learn more about him, visit wright-wayrescue.org or email us at [email protected].

Thanks to your support, Junior has a brighter future ahead—and a chance to live life on all four paws. ❤️

EMERGENCY - ANIMAL TRANSPORT VAN CRASH!!!

Yesterday began like any other for Wright-Way Rescue’s transport team. Their mission: to assist our partners in Oxford, Mississippi, and Blytheville, Arkansas by bringing four vulnerable litters of puppies to safety.

The first stop was Cleveland, Mississippi. One by one, three litters of puppies received their veterinary inspection and boarded our Wright-Way Rescue transport van – a high-top Dodge Promaster that has carried thousands of animals to safety over the years.

• The first litter, just three puppies, had been abandoned at a construction site and found scavenging in the woods, desperate for food.
• The second litter had been labeled “unwanted” by a farmer who could not sell them.
• The third litter, Rottweiler mixes, had been surrendered at just 3 weeks old. The facility bottle-fed them around the clock until they were finally old enough for rescue.

With the puppies safely secured in their crates, our driver continued toward his final stop in Blytheville, Arkansas. Spirits were high, and it seemed like another successful day of lifesaving transport.

But then—the unthinkable happened.

A semi-truck crashed in front of our van, forcing our driver into a detour through Memphis. In heavy traffic and confusing roadways, disaster struck: our transport vehicle was involved in a collision.

Miraculously, both drivers—though shaken—were not seriously injured. And most importantly, every single puppy was unharmed, thanks to the care taken to secure them safely.

The van, however, was not so fortunate. Both airbags deployed, the front end was crushed, and fluids leaked everywhere. One of our most essential lifelines for homeless animals was suddenly gone.

Back at headquarters, another Wright-Way driver was immediately dispatched with a second van to rescue both the shaken driver and the puppies. It was a three-hour drive.
In the meantime, our original driver—still rattled from the crash—stayed by the van’s side, caring for the puppies, keeping them calm, and making sure they were comfortable until help arrived.

And here’s where the story becomes truly extraordinary.

When the relief driver finally reached Memphis, the team had a decision to make: return home, or press forward. You might expect them to call it a night after such a long, frightening ordeal. But instead—our transport team informed management that they would be continuing the rescue run despite everything that had just happened.

They refused to let anything stand in the way of saving lives.
Late that night, long after they should have been home, they pulled into Blytheville, Arkansas. There, a rescuer had been waiting with two tiny Jack Russell Terrier mix puppies—surrendered by an owner who could no longer care for them. The rescuer, who feared the transport might never arrive, was overwhelmed with gratitude that Wright-Way Rescue didn’t give up.

This is who Wright-Way Rescue is. We don’t stop. We don’t give up. Because we know: if we don’t show up, help won’t arrive.
Now, we need your help.

While we do carry insurance, the payout will not come close to covering the cost of replacing this essential vehicle. The van that was lost already had high mileage, and what insurance provides will fall far short of what is needed for another reliable transport van.

But rescue doesn’t stop. Animals are still waiting—today, tomorrow, and every day. And without another Promaster van, their journey to safety is at risk.

We urgently need to replace the van lost in this accident so we can continue saving lives without delay.

Will you help us purchase a new transport van?

Your gift today is not just for a vehicle—it’s for the countless puppies, dogs, kittens, and cats who are waiting right now for their chance at rescue.

Thank you for always showing up for Wright-Way Rescue—and for the animals who depend on us all.

Together, we will keep moving forward and keep saving lives!

🐾 Happy Update: Nile is Thriving! 🐾

Nile is doing so much better! The wounds on the backs of his ears are almost completely healed, and he’s thrilled to finally have his cone off. The only reminder of his struggle now is two tiny patches of missing fur—a distant memory of the pain he once endured, and a beautiful reminder of the new life he’s been given.

For those who may have missed his story, Nile came to us suffering from a severe case of ear mites. With no way to ease his discomfort, he scratched his ears raw in desperation.

Thanks to your support, Nile got the care he needed, and look at him now—happy, healed, and living the life he deserves! ❤️

🐾 We had the pleasure of welcoming to meet and feature some of our longtime resident pups!

One of those sweet dogs is Zeus—a 3-year-old Retriever mix with a heart full of loyalty and energy. ❤️

Zeus originally found a home, but was sadly returned due to his family’s allergies. He hasn’t let that stop him—he’s still the same gentle, affectionate boy who loves spending time with his people.

Whether it’s playing outside, going for walks, or curling up for cuddle time, Zeus is happiest when he’s by your side.

Right now, Zeus is available as part of our $75 End of Summer Mega Adoption Special, which ends September 28th. Don’t miss the chance to give this loving boy the forever home he deserves.
