🐾 Calling all Washington heeler lovers! 🐶 We’re looking for upbeat, organized volunteers to help coordinate adoption events and represent our rescue in the community. 🐕💙
If you’re comfortable chatting with local businesses, organizing small groups, and love helping dogs find their forever homes — we’d love to have you on our team!
🌟 Responsibilities include (~1-2 hrs. per month):
🦴 Setting up adoption events at pet stores & local businesses
📣 Staying in touch with our social media, fundraising & adoption teams
🐾 Scouting out fun spring/summer dog events for booths

It’s easy to fall in love with a litter of puppies, but let’s not forget the incredible moms who brought them into the world. 💛 These adult dogs are often overlooked once their puppies are adopted, even though they’re just as deserving of love, comfort, and a forever home.

Mama dogs have so much heart, wisdom, and gratitude. They’ve given everything, and now it’s their turn to receive. 🐶✨ If you’re thinking about adopting, consider giving one of these amazing mamas the second chance she’s earned. With a name like treat magnet, this game sure is a crowd pleaser! This game teaches your dog to follow your hand closely, creating smooth, focused movement together. It’s great for teaching loose leash walking skills, building focus on you while in motion, or guiding your dog calmly in challenging spaces. Did we mention that you’ll need a lot of treats? 😋

🌈 In Memory of Beignet – Our Littlest Fighter
With broken hearts, we share that our tiniest pup, Beignet, has crossed the rainbow bridge far too soon. 

He came into our care fighting from the very beginning, born with a leg that didn’t work quite right. We had so much hope for his future. After vet visits and X-rays, we learned he would likely need a leg amputation to live comfortably and pain-free, and we were ready to give him that chance.

But his little body just couldn’t keep up, and despite every effort, he began to fade. He was gently helped to pass, surrounded by caring hands and hearts full of love.

Though his time here was short, he knew warmth, safety, and love.

Now, we ask for your help — not only to honor his memory, but to support the care of his littermates and other dogs who are still with us and thriving. Every donation makes a difference as we continue to fight for second chances.

His journey inspires us to keep rescuing, loving, and hoping.

As a way to honor Beignet and other beloved pets we’ve lost, we’ll be creating a memorial page on our website, a place to remember, reflect, and celebrate the dogs that touched ours hearts so deeply.

Makia, Birds, Bullet Creek, Trillion (formerly Staggy), and Riot are all living their best lives thanks to amazing adopters who opened their hearts and homes. Nothing makes us happier than seeing wagging tails and happy endings! 🐶🏡

There are still so many pups out there waiting for their turn. That’s why we’re always looking for more fosters and adopters who can help make happy endings possible. Every foster home gives a dog a safe place to land, and every adoption opens the door to a lifetime of love. 💕

Our Story

Pacific Northwest Cattle Dog Rescue is a non-profit organization based in Skagit County, Washington. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate & rehome cattle dogs and heelers from animal control groups, shelters and owner surrenders.

As a foster-based rescue organization, we rely on the generosity and dedication of our volunteer network. All of our dogs live in foster homes where they are part of the family until they find their forever home.

We offer courtesy listings across our social media to owners who wish to keep their dog during the rehoming process. Submit a courtesy listing request here. Owners interested in surrendering a heeler to PNWCDR can submit a questionnaire.

We seek to rehome cattle dogs coming out of states with a higher density of the breed, such as Texas and California. We are building partnerships with shelters, animals control groups and transporters across the west.
